Activities at Reigate Beaumont Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising and delivering a fun mix of activities and events chosen by the residents here at Reigate Beaumont. We work closely with the local community who get involved in all kinds of activities within the home. We enjoy all kinds of events which could be anything from trips out to local places of interest in our minibus or visits from entertainers and musicians, spending time in our beautiful gardens, or providing great activities for the mind body and soul. We liaise with local churches and regularly hold multi-congregational services at the home.

It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and invite them to our regular events. We also have a variety of volunteers who really enjoy spending time within the home too.

Karyn Borngräber

Activities Coordinator

Each resident is unique and as an Activity Coordinator, I aim to create meaningful activities whereby residents can feel at home. From quizzes to games, stretch classes to flower arranging, reminiscing to enjoying our beautiful gardens. From musicians to Namaste sessions, outings, intergenerational and community involvement – a balanced activity program of body, mind and soul allows each resident to feel as if they have purpose and meaning in their lives. As well as sitting and having meaningful one to one engaged conversation or holding your loved ones hand – can allow a resident to feel that Reigate Beaumont is their home. With a background as a Healthcare Assistant, we are taught to provide person centred care. This has helped me to provide person centred activities.

103rd Birthday Celebrations

103rd Birthday Celebrations

Resident, Francina, is pictured above on the day of her 103rd birthday. She was celebrating in her room with our Carers, Activities Coordinator, Tina, Nurse Peng and the General Manager, Pramojil Kurian. She was also joined by guest entertainer, John Cheney. There were flowers, balloons, music and, of course, a birthday cake made by our lovely Chef. Many happy returns!

Back in Time

Back in Time

Nathan Rhodes took the residents back in time, playing music from the 1950s and 1960s – and a great time was had by everyone!

Employee of the Month - January

Employee of the Month - January

Congratulations to Activities Coordinator, Charmaine Goodwin, for being named as January's Employee of the Month here at Reigate. Charmaine was nominated by residents in recognition of her hard work. Well done!

Burns Night

Burns Night

We celebrated Burns Night with haggis and whiskey in our main lounge. It is a celebration of the life and poetry of the poet, Robert Burns, who was the author of many Scottish classics. We had a visiting Scot dressed in a traditional Tartan outfit, who read poems and then cut into a haggis which was shared amongst the residents.

Birthday Celebrations

Birthday Celebrations

It was Mrs. Lee’s 90th birthday and we held a little party for them in one of our dining rooms. There were around 30 visitors, lots of food, drink, balloons, cheer and, of course, a big birthday cake. Everyone had a lovely time and wished Mrs. Lee many happy returns.

Christmas Party

Our Chef, Harry, made a very festive Christmas cake for our Christmas party, as well as some delicious Christmas food.

Resident, Sheila's, daughter and son-in-law performing for us, which they do every Christmas. They are a very musical family and like to come and share their talent with their mum and other residents.

Father Christmas also paid us a visit for a Christmas Party. He came in speak to residents to see if they had been good all year! The answer must have been ‘yes’, as the residents were all given Christmas presents by him.
