Activities at Reigate Beaumont Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising and delivering a fun mix of activities and events chosen by the residents here at Reigate Beaumont. We work closely with the local community who get involved in all kinds of activities within the home. We enjoy all kinds of events which could be anything from trips out to local places of interest in our minibus or visits from entertainers and musicians, spending time in our beautiful gardens, or providing great activities for the mind body and soul. We liaise with local churches and regularly hold multi-congregational services at the home.
It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and invite them to our regular events. We also have a variety of volunteers who really enjoy spending time within the home too.

Each resident is unique and as an Activity Coordinator, I aim to create meaningful activities whereby residents can feel at home. From quizzes to games, stretch classes to flower arranging, reminiscing to enjoying our beautiful gardens. From musicians to Namaste sessions, outings, intergenerational and community involvement – a balanced activity program of body, mind and soul allows each resident to feel as if they have purpose and meaning in their lives. As well as sitting and having meaningful one to one engaged conversation or holding your loved ones hand – can allow a resident to feel that Reigate Beaumont is their home. With a background as a Healthcare Assistant, we are taught to provide person centred care. This has helped me to provide person centred activities.

Life at Reigate Beaumont Care Home
Rainy days out are great!
Lovely trip out for a browse to Knights Garden Centres. There was so much to look at and talk about, such as how decorations have changed over the years. And all the different colours! Residents could not believe the variety of items on display. Such a change to when they decorated trees in their younger days. Residents had a delicious cup of coffee and snack in their new coffee shop. A resident commented on the warm welcome she received from the staff in the store and the coffee shop. Makes trips out so much more enjoyable when greeted with a friendly smile!
Community Engagement
Residents enjoyed a lovely afternoon welcoming a new group of Reigate Grammar School Year 9 students to our home. The same group will visit over the next couple of weeks and there's always lots to talk about in group discussions. The activities with the students vary from sing-alongs to a quiz, to group discussions on current topics. Residents also enjoy chatting to the students about their past careers and their life experiences. The visits end off with a lovely cup of tea and cake! We are very fortunate to have great community links with Reigate Grammar and we always look forward to their weekly visits during term time.
Fabulous Fireworks!
We had the 17the Reigate (St Joseph’s) Scout Group and the Mayor & Mayoress of the Borough of Reigate & Banstead, Eddy & Sarah Humphreys join us for what was truly an awesome evening of fun, laughter and a brilliant fireworks display. Residents, their families and staff were able to look out onto our main grounds at the breath-taking display lighting up the dark skies. The atmosphere in our patio garden was literally electric with 26 scouts shouting with glee as each firework was set off. Our Head Chef Roman and his team had a variety of hotdogs, cakes and mulled wine for everyone to enjoy! Delicious!
Barchester Care Awards 2023
Reigate Beaumont residents and staff celebrated the Barchester Care Awards 2023, held in Manchester in great style. Our very own team member John was crowned Maintenance Champion for the South Division earlier in the year and travelled to Manchester for the awards ceremony. Residents and staff all got together to watch the award ceremony live in our lounge. There can only be one winner though and although John did not win the National title, residents and staff were very proud of him. Having won the title for the South Division in under a year of being in the role, is beyond impressive! You are our Champion John!
Residents Fashion Show
It was Lights! Camera! and Action! on the red carpet at Reigate Beaumont's Fashion Show! From the perfect outfits, to hairstyles, manicures, and professional makeup - our home was abuzz with activity in preparing for the afternoon event. Residents and staff had been planning this fashion show together over the last month and their excitement was at an all-time high. Getting all our gorgeous residents ready for their red-carpet debut. So many smiles and happy faces. Our three judges unanimously decided that all the models were winners - and participants were awarded flowers, chocolates, and medals! Big thank you to our fantastic Reigate Beaumont team for showcasing this fantastic event for our residents.
Looking forward to Autumn!
With the lounge decorated in an Autumn Harvest theme, residents and staff have been reminiscing, discussing fond memories of warm cosy nights indoors. Walking in parks and recalling many happy memories when leaves change into colours of warm, rich, earthy and golden tones. Even with the days shortening there is so much to look forward to over the next few months. In keeping with an Autumn theme, the Poetry Club celebrated National Poetry Day and recited poems from Robert Frost and William Butler Yeats! Our favourite poem was Emily Bronte: ‘Fall, Leaves, Fall’. The Harvest Festival Cheese & Wine was also a relaxing evening get together with residents, relatives, and staff.
