Activities at Reigate Beaumont Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising and delivering a fun mix of activities and events chosen by the residents here at Reigate Beaumont. We work closely with the local community who get involved in all kinds of activities within the home. We enjoy all kinds of events which could be anything from trips out to local places of interest in our minibus or visits from entertainers and musicians, spending time in our beautiful gardens, or providing great activities for the mind body and soul. We liaise with local churches and regularly hold multi-congregational services at the home.

It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and invite them to our regular events. We also have a variety of volunteers who really enjoy spending time within the home too.

Karyn Borngräber

Activities Coordinator

Each resident is unique and as an Activity Coordinator, I aim to create meaningful activities whereby residents can feel at home. From quizzes to games, stretch classes to flower arranging, reminiscing to enjoying our beautiful gardens. From musicians to Namaste sessions, outings, intergenerational and community involvement – a balanced activity program of body, mind and soul allows each resident to feel as if they have purpose and meaning in their lives. As well as sitting and having meaningful one to one engaged conversation or holding your loved ones hand – can allow a resident to feel that Reigate Beaumont is their home. With a background as a Healthcare Assistant, we are taught to provide person centred care. This has helped me to provide person centred activities.

Carnival Party

Residents and staff members marked the beginning of Shrove with a carnival party. Staff were dressed in traditional attire and everyone enjoyed cocktails, lovely food and most importantly had a great time. The atmosphere was amazing.

In preparation of the carnival, the residents made special masks during an arts class.

Royal Marines Presentation

Reigate Beaumont resident Peter Rothwell who served in the Royal Marines from 1945, will be hosting a talk on the History of the Regiment. Peter will share personal photos of him wearing his Royal Marine’s uniform, while recounting his experience, to our other residents.

Donation for Local Charity

Reigate Beaumont donated Valentines cakes and presented them to MHA Communities East Surrey at their lunch at Redhill Methodist Church. Our Head Chef, Roman, made a heart shaped lemon cake topped with strawberries and individual carrot cup cakes. The staff at MHA and their members were thrilled with the cakes!

Burns Night Celebrations

Diane Cobain volunteers twice a month leading cultural activities for our residents. On this occasion Diane celebrated Robert Burns Night, reading some of his poems, leading a group singalong to Auld Lang Syne, while sampling fine Scottish whisky and shortbread.

Our residents really enjoyed this cultural celebration and we got some very positive feedback.

Weekly Pilates Class with Jacquetta

Our residents at Reigate Beaumont, enjoyed a gentle seated Pilates class led by our resident Pilates Instructor Jacquetta. Our residents benefit from the weekly class to maintain their physical well-being.

Exercise Class with Activities Coordinator Jerry Lewis

Another weekly exercise class, this time led by Activities Coordinator Jerry. This exercise class is carried out to popular songs and our residents are encouraged to singalong, as their exercise. This benefits our residents' general fitness, core strength and mobility, while having fun working out.
