Activities at Peony Court Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to enhancing residents' quality of life by providing regular social and psychological stimulation. The activities can be undertaken in groups or ‘one-to-one’ and are based on individual preferences. We have a varied programme, with the goal of appealing to the interests and capabilities of all residents as best as possible. For example, there's pottery, baking, Scrabble, art classes, exercise sessions and much more. The Activities Coordinators also organise visits from entertainers, local groups, including school choirs, religious services and outings on the minibus.

Activities

Hi! I'm Paul, the Activities Co-Ordinator at Peony Court.

Before I joined the care sector I worked for many years in the hotel industry, managing housekeeping, hospitality and customer experience. Several members of my family have a history of working in care and I thought, maybe that could be me as well. I'm a natural entertainer with a flare for bringing smiles to people's faces and this was absolutely the right move for me.

Here at Peony Court, I make a point of getting to know each and every resident and their families. I tailor the activities program to suit individuals, no one is the same and everyone has different interests. It's my aim to be empathetic, enthusiastic and engaging with all of my residents. We have incredible activities and events here guided by exactly what our residents want, from pampering sessions to singing and dancing, chair exercises to arts and crafts, and diversity is absolutely the key!

I can't wait to welcome more residents and guests to Peony Court!

Life at Peony Court Care Home

Cat Treats

Peony Court's Head Chef, Marc, has been busy baking cat treats for local animal rescue centers here in Croydon. We donated a bag of kitty biscuits to Wallington Animal Rescue - WAR. It was a pleasure to meet such a rewarding team of volunteers.

Palace for Life

Peony Court have been working in Partnership with Palace for Life Foundation and NCS - National Citizen Service to help teenagers keep busy and personalise our gardens.

We now have a range of flowers, hanging baskets and bird feeders to attract wildlife. Our garden will be a peaceful and tranquil spot for many residents going forward

Thank you so much for all your help. Please have a look at the outstanding work Palace For Life undertakes daily.

Cutting the Ribbon

It was a very exciting day at Peony Court: the Mayor of Croydon came to 'cut the ribbon' and allow us to welcome her into our home.

It was a lovely experience to hear more about the history and community of the area. We have had really positive feedback from the Mayor and look forward to working alongside her continuously in the future.

Swapping Seeds

Peony Court have been working alongside and volunteering at Addiscombe Railway Park Friends In order to establish our new relationship we have swapped seeds! We have given some flower seeds to the park and planted some in our private garden for our residents to enjoy and watch bloom. We look forward to continuing working within the community.

Helping the Community

Bethany, our Home Services Advisor, has been busy helping Addiscombe Railway Park Friends with gardening jobs. It was a great cause for a lovely park. We will ensure this is an ongoing, fruitful friendship!
