Activities at Peony Court Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to enhancing residents' quality of life by providing regular social and psychological stimulation. The activities can be undertaken in groups or ‘one-to-one’ and are based on individual preferences. We have a varied programme, with the goal of appealing to the interests and capabilities of all residents as best as possible. For example, there's pottery, baking, Scrabble, art classes, exercise sessions and much more. The Activities Coordinators also organise visits from entertainers, local groups, including school choirs, religious services and outings on the minibus.

Activities

Hi! I'm Paul, the Activities Co-Ordinator at Peony Court.

Before I joined the care sector I worked for many years in the hotel industry, managing housekeeping, hospitality and customer experience. Several members of my family have a history of working in care and I thought, maybe that could be me as well. I'm a natural entertainer with a flare for bringing smiles to people's faces and this was absolutely the right move for me.

Here at Peony Court, I make a point of getting to know each and every resident and their families. I tailor the activities program to suit individuals, no one is the same and everyone has different interests. It's my aim to be empathetic, enthusiastic and engaging with all of my residents. We have incredible activities and events here guided by exactly what our residents want, from pampering sessions to singing and dancing, chair exercises to arts and crafts, and diversity is absolutely the key!

I can't wait to welcome more residents and guests to Peony Court!

Tea with our local councillors!

A huge thank you to Cllr Yvette Hopley, Conservative Councillor for Sanderstead Ward and Shadow Cabinet Member for Families Health & Social Care plus Member of the Health & Wellbeing Board (right of picture) and her deputy, Cllr Margaret Bird, Old Coulsdon Ward for spending the afternoon at Peony Court and getting to know what a great life our older population can have with us here and how we can work together to achieve that for all in the local community!

Antiques Roadshow at Peony Court!

General Manager, Sandra and our guests thoroughly enjoyed meeting the charming Michael Laikin who didn't disappoint with a hugely entertaining and informative antique session! Guest, Mrs B was amazed with the value of her item and was glad to be given the heads up to insure it forthwith!

What a party!

We couldn't have wished for a better day to celebrate the opening of our new home at our Summer Garden Party! The sun was shining, the "sparkly" flowing and with stalls and entertainment on offer and all safely held, a great time was had by all!

"Cheese and Wine Soiree"

It was great to invite eleven of our closest neighbours to meet our new General Manager, Sandra Roche, toast their health through this dreadful pandemic, tour our wonderful new home and enjoy an evening of fine wine and a selection of cheeses and in our newly planted garden. Sandra is pictured with local resident, Mike sharing a few funny anecdotes about life in our Park Hill area!

Welcoming our legal and financial associates!

Peony Court were delighted to meet with their financial and legal local associates. Pictured are Financial Advisor, Kevin Worrall and Law Practitioner, Lee Ann Diaz who were just two of several visitors to Kevin's bespoke seminar day. There have been many changes to how we fund care successfully and the huge importance of Powers of Attorney etc through covid. Please do call us for their contact details and ensure you're fully informed and covered for all eventualities!

Rowland Brothers

It was so lovely to welcome friend and business associate, Funeral Director, Neil Athron. Rowland Brothers are held with high esteem in this area and have helped us with so much including very important bereavement councelling!
