Activities at Ouse View Care Home
We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.
We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.
Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.

Life at Ouse View Care Home
Home hosts afternoon tea
Staff and residents at Ouse View care home in Fulford invited all residents to join a special afternoon tea in celebration of national tea week which takes place from 7th until the 13th of August.
Taking place Wednesday 9th of August from 14.00, residents came together to spend quality time over specialist teas and coffees, sandwiches and homemade scones with cream and jam provided by Ian Snedden, the homes fantastic Head Chef.
Health & Safety Champion
Kev Field at Ouse View in Fulford has been crowned Health & Safety Champion for the North Division in the Barchester Care Awards 2023 and is through to the national round of judging.
The Barchester Care Awards celebrate the staff who go the extra mile for the benefit of the 13,000 residents living in Barchester’s 252 care homes and private hospitals across the country. Categories range from ‘Registered Nurse of the Year’ and ‘Carer of the Year’ to ‘Dementia Care Champion’ and ‘Activities Coordinator of the Year’.
Anyone for tennis?
Excitement filled Ouse View as tennis fans gathered to witness the 136th Championships. The match between Diane Parry and Harriet Dart had everyone enthralled, strawberries and cream in hand. Though Perry's loss was a slight disappointment, anticipation grew for the upcoming garden tennis tournament. The weather favoured us on Tuesday, 4th of July, as we set up a net, and residents cheered each other on. Joan, Brenda, and Susan, avid tennis players of the past, eagerly embraced the chance to play once more with a few adaptations.
Dream comes true
Resident Joan at Ouse View had always had a love for sport and rugby in particular. Joan had often attended games with her belated husband and still held a strong passion for the game. Staff at the home along with Carl and his colleague Emma from Vangarde in York, made her wish to attend a game a reality proving that it is never too late do the things you love.
Home celebrate World Ocean Day
Staff and residents at Barchester’s Ouse View care home in Fulford have been celebrating World Oceans Day which took place on 8th June.
World Oceans Day is an annual global celebration and a platform for global outreach to encourage and inspire people to safeguard our oceans. This year the theme is Tides are changing. The UN is trying to generate a new wave of excitement towards cherishing and protecting our oceans and the entirety of our blue planet.
Resident receives prestigious award
Local care home delighted as resident is awarded by St Andrews Society a prestigious presidential award in the home accompanied by family, friends and relatives. Ronald Rob, the President of St Andrews Society, 1927 - 1988 was awarded a certificate of recognition from the new president Grant Young, after piper Jim Sharpe with 26-years’ experience played in guests on the pipes.
The prestigious St Andrews Society Award is organised by the society and is very rare to come across. The awards aim to thank and show appreciation and respect for the previous President of the society. Family and friends gathered in the home to pay their respects to Ronald and celebrated with some light refreshments.
