Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.
We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.
Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.

Life at Ouse View Care Home
'Tis the season to be jolly
Barchester's Ouse View care home in Fulford embraced the festive season with a delightful Christmas concert hosted by Nikki Humberstone. The event, attended by residents, relatives, friends, and staff, added a joyful touch to the holiday celebrations.
Ouse View's Christmas party came alive with Nikki, a talented live musician who performed a diverse selection of songs, both new and old, infused with her own jazzy flair. Residents revelled in the festive atmosphere, indulging in a delectable feast that included mince pies, cheese and biscuits, and a couple of glasses of bubbly, all expertly prepared by the home's chef.
Meeting the Reindeers
Across our homes we got into the Christmas spirit of things by joining a festive live virtual experience, led by Des and Kelly from Performing Pets.
Our residents were thrilled to meet the charming furry friends and get up close and personal with the reindeers. We certainly learnt some interesting facts about the animals and had a fantastic time.
Carol concert with Music Education Group
Music Education Group, a student-run volunteering project from York, orchestrated a heart-warming Christmas carol concert at Barchester's Ouse View care home in Fulford. Residents were enthralled by the well-known Christmas carols sung by the talented group of young girls.
The event saw staff and residents of Ouse View join forces with the local community to embrace the Christmas spirit through a joyous carol concert. The enchanting singing was led by the Music Education Group, filling the air with festive melodies that captivated all in attendance.
A magical Christmas visit
The festive spirit was in full swing at Barchester's Ouse View care home as residents were treated to a special visit, not from Santa's traditional reindeers, but from an enchanting pony Wendy and two goats Mickey & Cream adorned in Christmas nativity attire.
In a heart-warming event organized by the caring team at Ouse View, residents were delighted to welcome the festive companions and learn more about their habits and preferences from the knowledgeable handler, Gina, from Well-being with Animals. The atmosphere was brimming with excitement as the residents had the opportunity to feed the friendly animals some of their favourite treats.
Gilbert & Sullivan group live performance
Residents and guests at Ouse View care home in Fulford were treated to a delightful afternoon of live musical entertainment right within the comfort of their home. The local Gilbert and Sullivan Society graced the occasion with a captivating performance, featuring a selection of classic hits, including a sneak peek at songs from their upcoming show, Princess Ida.
The atmosphere was alive with joy as residents enthusiastically clapped along with the band's performance. Singing along and sharing laughter, the residents truly relished every moment.
A day of furry friends with Diggi's Den
Residents at Ouse View care home in Fulford were treated to a delightful day filled with warmth and furry companionship as Angela Reid from Diggi's Den brought two giant French Lop rabbits, Dorothy and Bill, along with two charming guinea pigs, John and Jim, for a special visit.
The atmosphere at Ouse View was transformed as the animals roamed freely around the lounge, hallway, and even ventured into some residents' rooms. The day was dedicated to the simple pleasures of stroking and cuddling these lovable creatures, fostering an atmosphere of joy and connection.

We extend a warm invitation for you to join us as we host our monthly coffee morning, make new friends and take a tour of our home. All welcome.
Don't Dine Alone - Every Friday
We know mealtimes can be lonely for older members of our community and we extend a warm invitation for those to join us at our weekly - Don't Dine Alone, Fridays from 12.15pm.
