Activities at Ouse View Care Home

We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Rachael

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.

We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.

Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.

Life at Ouse View Care Home

Easter Bunny Hunt

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Ouse View care home have been having fantastic fun hiding Easter bunnies all over the place in Fulford for local children to find.  The staff and residents decided to challenge local children to find 6 Easter bunnies that have been hiding in all kinds of different locations all over town.  The children then had to write down the name of each bunny and where they had been found in order to take part in the Easter Bunny Hunt.

Nutrition and Hydration

At Ouse view we are keen to support good nutrition and hydration so we put the residents at the heart of the choices and options available. Each resident in the group peeled, chopped and prepared; pineapple, blueberries, grapes, strawberries, mango, apple, pear, melon and pomegranate to make a mouth-watering fresh fruit salad. Of course we want everyone to achieve so support is offered when required in preparation. Next steps are devouring our creations!

Spring Flowers

Join us at our weekly garden club as residents take time out to enjoy the spring flowers, for those unable to venture out we bring the garden indoors, this brings many a smile of delight.

A group of our residents take responsibility and great pleasure in painting our new bird houses ready to be hung.

Here at Ouse View we are hopeful that some feathery families move into their new homes!

Mother's Day 2023

On Mother’s Day, we had a fabulous morning with a delicious strawberry cream tea for everyone to enjoy.

The trolley laden with scones, jam and strawberries made its way around the whole home travelling room to room. Drinks were served in the best china and classical music followed behind from the mobile speaker.

Visitors and residents were encouraged to mark the occasion with their family members by having their picture taken in order to create memento’s at a later date.

Happy Mother’s day from all of us here at Ouse View!

Gardening Club

The residents at Ouse view are anticipating a fabulous spring especially as they have been busy preparing for it. The bulbs we planted before Christmas are giving a fabulous display of colours. Today the keen green fingered gardeners of the home are hoping to have our own vegetables by the summer by planting tomatoes and aubergines.

At Ouse view we also have some keen bird spotters, in order to encourage nature into our gardens we are keeping the feeders topped up. Regardless of the weather our residents love to observe the garden activity either from the window on a chilly day or relaxing in the sun in the summer.

St Patricks Day

At Ouse View residents have been busy with St Patricks Day preparations, creating shamrocks and leprechauns to dress the home.

Today we enjoyed games with our lucky charm, accompanied by Irish folk music which saw residents tapping and clapping away.

We rounded of the morning with a tipple of Guinness and arm chair travel around Ireland. An action packed afternoon lies ahead with Irish themed music session from MEG and for tea a delicious steak and Guinness pie with colcannon.
