Activities at Oak Grange Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Oak Grange Care Home

A trip to the forest
Residents and staff had a lovely day out visiting Delamere Forest in Cheshire. We travelled in our mini bus to the new café and tourist centre in the heart of the forest. The history of Delamere forest reflects its transformation from a royal hunting ground to a modern recreational area with a focus on conservation and sustainability. It has evolved over the centuries to cater to the changing needs of society while preserving its natural beauty and historical significance. The beautiful autumn colours of the trees were a delight to see and a short stroll to the café allowed us time to see some wildlife too. One resident Tilly said “ it’s nice to be out in the countryside and see the lovely colours and the squirrels” After a nice cup of tea and some delicious cake we took the scenic route home which took longer than expected as were held up by a herd of cows on their way home.

Residents celebrate Festival of Navaratri,
Barchester’s Oak Grange care home, in Mollington, celebrated the Hindu festival of Navaratri, which takes place from October 15th to October 24th.
Navaratri holds an immense significance among Hindus. Navaratri means nine days and nine nights of worshipping Goddess Durga. Devotees offer prayers to Maa Durga and observe a fast for nine consecutive days during Navaratri which occurs four times a year.

Home turns purple for Alzheimer's Day
Staff and residents at Barchester’s Oak Grange care home in Mollington marked Alzheimer’s Awareness Month which is taking place throughout September.
Alzheimer’s is a form of dementia, the loss of cognitive functioning – thinking, remembering, reasoning – which can affect a person’s day to day life and activities. Functions that can be impacted are memory, language skills, visual perception, problem solving, self-management and the ability to focus and pay attention. The number of people living with dementia in the UK is forecast to increase to over 1m.

Harvest Festival
One of our residents went to Chester Cathedral to their Harvest Festival service. This lady used to volunteer with her husband at the Cathedral for many years. A lot of the people at the Cathedral recognised her as a valued member of the congregation. A wonderful afternoon full of magical memories for this special lady.

Magic table fun
Our interactive magic table brings our residents endless fun and cognitive stimulation, it helps socialisation and creates laughter and competition between them.

Arts in care homes week
To celebrate arts and crafts in care home week we have created a collage with Yvonne from Creative Mojo. This wonderful collage was created by residents who really enjoyed watching it come together, feeling very proud of their achievement, and we have also been entered into the national competition being held by Creative Mojo. Fingers crossed we win.
