Activities at Mulberry Court Care Home

The team at Mulberry Court works hard to support and encourage residents to participate in both group and individual activities, based around their preferences and lifestyle choices. We take time to get to know each person, sitting with them and listening to them speak about their lives, interests, and aspirations. We have access to our own minibus so outings to nearby places of interest are available; for example local museums, art galleries, garden centres, and public houses. We also host themed evenings, such as 'Quiz and Meal-in-a-Basket', 'The Races (Greyhounds, Horses)', and 'Takeaway and Movie Night' that we also encourage relatives to come to. We believe lifestyle choices and activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, and it is essential that we help residents to have fulfilling and enjoyable lives.

Life at Mulberry Court Care Home

,

Double celebrations

Residents enjoyed a lovely garden party to celebrate not only Queen Elizabeth’s 96th Birthday but also National Tea Day!  Our Head Chef Lee Starkey baked scones and cup-cakes for the occasion which went down a treat with our residents on a beautiful sunny afternoon in the gardens at Mulberry Court.  We hope the Queen enjoyed her birthday as much as we did!

Easter card making

Residents had great fun making personalised Easter cards to send to their loved ones.  Some of the residents made a few extra to send to staff members to show their appreciation and wish them a Happy Easter too.

Easter flower arranging

Our lounge in full Easter bloom!  Residents created some gorgeous Easter arrangements to take back and brighten their rooms.

Century celebrations

Celebrations have been in full swing at Mulberry Court, as one of its residents reaches her centenary in style.  Joyce Bullock was joined by staff, relatives, friends and other residents as she received a telegram from the Queen in recognition of her landmark birthday. A champagne reception was held at the home and guests enjoyed a special birthday cake made by the home’s chef Lee Starkey.

Joyce lived in Burton-on-Trent where she lived all her life.  Joyce had two children, a son and a daughter and was a happy and content stay at home Mum and wife throughout her life before coming to Mulberry Court, where she is enjoying a new chapter of her life.

Mulberry herb garden

Residents voted to start a herb garden and we planted seeds with the A – Z of herbs from Basil to Thyme!  We had great fun sowing the seeds which are being watered daily by residents and staff.  Once we have a good crop the herbs will be used in our kitchen to enhance the already lovely food with home grown herbs.

The Astor's

Our residents came together to enjoy an exciting virtual talk courtesy of the team at National Trust Talks Service.  The illustrated talk took us closer to one of Cliveden’s most famous families, the Astors. Our residents were able to discover what motivated William Waldorf Astor, America’s richest man, to purchase Cliveden in 1893 and how the estate became the centre of high society in the 1920 s and 30 s thanks to his son Waldorf and daughter in law Nancy Astor.
