Activities at Meadowbeck Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Hi, I’m Tina, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Meadowbeck.
I began working at the home as a Care Assistant in 1999. In 2014, I changed my role to Social Support Worker, which I enjoyed, as it involved supporting residents at Meadowbeck in their daily lifestyles.
I then became the Activities Coordinator in May 2017. I love working with our residents and getting to know them and their families. In addition to supporting them maintain an active lifestyle I always ensure to personally get to know each resident when they move in with us to support them in the continuation of any hobbies or interests the might have.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Meadowbeck Care Home
London Ladies
As part of our International Women’s Day celebrations, Residents from across our services were thrilled to join tour guide, Mandy Morrow, for an exciting talk about some Legendary London Ladies.
Mandy shared the fascinating stories of eight ladies with us, from the one of the richest heiresses in the world to the original 'Roaring Girl'.
Everyone who participated truly enjoyed the experience and were delighted to take a walk down memory lane.
Bingo Bonanza
Across the country our homes and hospitals came together to find out which care home or hospital had the best Bingo players as they teamed up for Barchester’s Bingo Bonanza.
Residents were treated to some exciting virtual games of Bingo as part of Barchester’ very own game show series.
Everyone who participated had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.
Flower Arranging Masterclass
Our lovely residents and colleagues came together this afternoon for a lovely flower arranging master class courtesy of Tina our Home Activities Coordinator.
Our residents thoroughly enjoyed discussing the different smells, colours and names of flowers. We discussed the beautiful gardens that surround us, and what flowers we see as the seasons change.
Blue Light Breakfast
Meadowbeck hosted our Blue Light Breakfast as a Thank you to our local and much cherished emergency services, community nurses and our local GP’s to pop along and join us for a free light breakfast with a freshly baked pastry, accompanied with fresh fruit juices and tea or coffee.
It was lovely to welcome our local GP and community nurse who visits the home on a regular basis.
Our “Blue Light Breakfast” mornings are held on the last Monday of the month.
Birthday Treats
At Meadowbeck we believe that every Birthday is important and deserves to be celebrated, making our residents feel special.
Thea had a lovely surprise when Casandra, our Unit manager on Memory Lane turned up to visit her and took her for a shopping trip to Marks and Spencer.
Thea had a lovely day browsing the clothing department where she could treat herself, stopping off for delicious coffee and cake at costa coffee and visiting the shambles in the town centre.
Thea had yet another surprise upon returning back to the home as team members presented her with a birthday cake made by our Head Chef Daniel, singing "Happy Birthday".
Thea had a wonderful day!
Master Florist Tutorial
Across our homes we had a fantastic time joining, Kathryn Delve, Master Florist, for a Valentine’s-inspired live virtual flower arranging demonstration. Kathryn shared brilliant and creative ways to decorate our tables with beautiful flowers that are sure to make your heart swoon!
Those participating in this virtual event put their skills to the test and followed along with some amazing creations of their own. Residents truly enjoyed the experience.

Blue Light Breakfast - Last Monday of the month
We extend a warm invitation to emergency personnel or a community GP and district nurse to pop in and enjoy breakfast with us, last Monday of the month from 08.00 am.
Don't Dine Alone - Every Thursday
We know meal times can be lonely for some members of our older community and we extend a warm invitation for you to join us for lunch and make new friends.
Chit and Chatter Club
Join us on the 1st Wednesday of the month from 2.00 pm and enjoy an afternoon of conversation and refreshments.
Weekly Coffee Morning
Join us at our weekly coffee morning, every Tuesday from 10.30 am - come along and make new friends!

Come and take a break on us! We extend a warm invitation to all emergency service personnel to pop in on your break as there may be a cake or two available....
Carer's Cafe
Join us on the last Tuesday of the month for our carers' café from 2.00–3.30 pm. All welcome!
