Activities at Marple Dale Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Lewis Timperley

Activities Team Lead

Hi, my name is Lewis. I joined the team in September 2021 as a general assistant and then moved to the activities team in January 2022. Most recently I became Activities Team Leader in December 2023, it has been a great journey here at Marple Dale and can’t wait to continue. I love my role as one of the homes Activity Coordinators, and love finding out new and exciting ways to engage residents with activities and each other.

Here at Marple Dale we try to do as many different activities as we can, to keep our residents as active as possible, as it is so important to keep active. I love what I do and love knowing that our residents have so much enjoyment from such a wide variety of activities.

Life at Marple Dale Care Home

A stroll around the garden

We took two of our ladies outside for the morning, we had a lovely walk around our stunning grounds and stopped off outside the bistro for a coffee and cake and met up with some of our other residents.

Giant Scrabble

This week at Marple Dale, we had new scrabble champions in our weekly game of scrabble. The new member of our activity team joined Joyce and Beryl, it was good to see everyone’s minds hard at work in order to win. Everyone had a wonderful time, well done to all!

Happy anniversary!

This week at Marple Dale we celebrated Tony and his wife’s 60th Wedding anniversary, we had a cake made and a bottle of champagne to top it off! Congratulations!

Sound of Music

Yesterday the Semitone Singers Choir returned to Marple Dale, filling the afternoon with classic Sea Shanties, topped off with some beverages. We had a great time and can't wait to see them again soon!

Herstory of Mayfair

‘Herstory’ of Mayfair

Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.

We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas.  The experience was truly enjoyed by all.

Walks around the grounds

On Thursday we decided to get some fresh air by taking a stroll around our beautiful grounds at Marple Dale. We had a lovely walk around and the weather was nice when the sun decided to shine. We sat outside in our gardens and had some hot drinks together!
