Activities at Lindum House Care Home

Our fantastic Activities Coordinators make sure that there is a full programme of social events to suit all interests and capabilities. They aim to not only to stimulate, but to ensure that everyone involved has lots of fun. We enjoy trips out visiting local places of interest or just to explore, which inevitably ends up with us having a lovely lunch somewhere.

There are regular concerts that we hold in the home that allows us to have a good old singalong, and our community links include the local churches, knit and natter groups and toddler groups coming in to see residents.

On a daily basis, everyone enjoys a variety of activities, including quizzes, bingo, arts and crafts, reminiscing and movement to music. We also host movie afternoons on the big screen which, of course, involves popcorn and ice cream at the interval!

Any residents who are unable to join us in the communal areas for activities have one-to-one time in their rooms, with us either reading to them, chatting or anything else they wish to do that’s within their capabilities.

Kelly Rolph

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi there, I'm Kelly. My role at Lindum House ensures all of our residents always have lots of fun activities to look forward too.

I grew up down south, my parents worked in news trade & I've lived in many places! I've lived in hull for 20 years now, worked in health and social care for around 15 years, I started on care, worked through domestic, kitchen assistant and found my calling with activities!

I'm a super social person, enjoy being busy and sing in my spare time. I am part of a small singing charity group 'guise & gals'. I've been singing karaoke since I was 18 but never had the confidence to take it any further. I do, however, love putting on a show for our residents!

I'm a strong believer in 'treat people how you wish to be treated' everyone is different and it's important to focus on each individuals wants and needs, to encourage and nurture life, you only live once!

I'm full of energy, providing there is music... it's good for my soul!

Our residents smiles are my reward, it makes me so happy to see them enjoying them selves.

Life at Lindum House Care Home

,

Chef's little helper

Residents of Lindum House are encouraged to lend a helping hand if they wish.  Resident, Jean is often found lending a helping hand to the homes chef, Mo as has enjoyed a lifelong interest and enjoyment in cooking.  Jean can be often found in the homes dining room happily sitting peeling vegetables over a cup of tea.   Jean says “this gives me a purpose, I feel like I’m contributing by lending a helping hand”.

Families reunite

Residents have begun to welcome their loved ones back to the home with garden visits, keeping to social distance guidelines it has been an emotional time for all.  Residents, Muriel and Marie took advantage of the dry weather to catch up with their loved ones in the homes beautiful secure garden, there were tears of joy and laughter during this special time.

Residents want to say a special thanks to their Maintenance Manager, James for providing our safe distance areas.

Reels on wheels gift

Residents at Lindum House were delighted to receive a very special treat from the team at East Riding Dementia Friendly UK charity with their kind donation of a copy of the latest Mary Poppins movie, popcorn and lots more lovely sweets treats for Residents to enjoy as they sit back and enjoy.

Lindum House have been overwhelmed with the gifts and kind gestures that they have received during this uncertain time which has lifted the spirits of Residents and the hardworking care team at the home.  Residents enjoyed watching the movie on the big screen and reminiscing about their trips to the movies and seeing their community friend, Simon Foster from the East Riding Dementia Friendly group.

Eye's down for Residents

The game must go on: Residents of Lindum House enjoy a round of bingo while keeping themselves safe from coronavirus and keeping busy as part of the homes popular social life enrichment programme.  Resident, Mike is enjoying a little respite break at the home joined in, having not played before. The friendly competition took place between everyone as Residents raced to be the winner with one resident remarking how much they wanted to win, prompting laughs and giggles from fellow Residents.  Mike even walked away with a prize much to his delight!

Kelly Scott, Activities Coordinator said; “Everyone has really enjoyed themselves today, a bit of friendly competition is always nice and we always look forward to a game”.

A Breath of Fresh Air

Residents at Lindum House have been making the most of the glorious sunshine by taking walks in the gardens and stopping off at their many seated areas to soak up the sunshine and enjoy a cup of tea outside and a good old chat.

Fun in the Sun

What better way to enjoy the beautiful gardens at Lindum House than a nice game of garden bowls. Residents Barbara and Lyndsey, with the support of employee of the week, Martin, enjoyed a friendly game and, of course, taking advantage of the beautiful sunshine.

Residents at Lindum House are very lucky with their garden space and often take to the great outdoors for a breath of fresh air. Everyone had a lovely morning with some delicious,  cooling ice cream.
