Activities at Lawton Manor Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Chloe Cameron

Activities Coordinator

This is Chloe and she is our Activities Coordinator here at Lawton Manor. Her job is to physically and mentally stimulate our residents by offering a range of activities for them to enjoy. She wants to get everyone involved and make our home community and atmosphere as positive and welcoming as possible.

Making sure that our residents have things to do that they really enjoy doing is something that Chloe holds very close to her heart. It is so important to make sure that they are happy and enjoy all of the activities and events that we host for them. A lot of our residents also enjoy our special trips out on our Minibus as we create new, special memories together.

Life at Lawton Manor Care Home

Receptionist celebrates Long Service Award

A Receptionist-Administrative Assistant at Lawton Manor in Church Lawton has received a prestigious Long Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for Fifteen years.

Julie Buckley, Receptionist, started at Barchester in October 2006 and has worked with residents, their relatives, nurses, carers and visiting health care professionals to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.

Jane McFarlane, Employee Services Director at Barchester said: “I’m always pleased to hear stories about the long service of Barchester staff and am delighted Julie has achieved this milestone. It is dedication like this that ensures our residents are provided with a happy place to live.”

A perfect day!

We all enjoyed a tasty fish and chip lunch whilst boating in the "Mary Sunley" on the Macclesfield Canal.  The beautiful autumn scenery is stunning at this time of year and we spotted three beautiful Herons along the way!

Virtual Cruise Experience

We had a lovely time joining Paul Hawkins and Lisa Richards from Unilever for an exciting Virtual Cruise experience.   Our residents were welcomed with mocktails as Lisa and Paul took them on a magical journey to 3 mystery destinations, which were uncovered after a few clues.   Paul demonstrated how to create a few of the local traditional dishes, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.  The event evoked lots of great memories and it was truly enjoyed by all.

Reach, Stretch & Flex

Residents have loved playing indoor ball games including basket ball.  We not only compete but also work on some reach, stretch and flexing exercises

Games can get quite competitive and the residents love a laugh with each other in a morning games session

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Residents enjoyed a coffee morning with delicious homemade cakes and biscuits.

It was lovely to part of Macmillan’s biggest coffee morning event as they do so much for our communities and is a cause close to many people’s hearts.

Last night of the Proms

We celebrated Last Night of the Proms virtually with members of English National Ballet’s Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Music Director Gavin Sutherland.

We listened and danced along as members of the orchestra took us on a magical, musical journey. English National Ballet Philharmonic is made up of many of the country’s top musicians, and boasts considerable experience in all forms of music-making. With insights and anecdotes into what it takes to conduct an orchestra for a world-class ballet company, this special concert got our feet tapping, arms waving and hearts singing!

It was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all.
