Activities at Kings Park Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Angela Cawsey
Hello, I am Angela the Activities Lead.
I am delighted to be part of the team at Kings Park after a transferring from a sister home in Salisbury, following my relocation to this area.
With experience in this role, my passion is bringing joy to our residents, whether on a one-to-one basis or in groups. I love getting to know each resident and incorporating their interests into engaging, meaningful activities and events that nurture the mind, body and spirit to enhance their well-being and life enrichment at our home. Making people smile is what I do best!
During lockdown, I ran daily Zoom sessions for well-being, including bingo and quizzes. When my children were young I volunteered as a helper at Boys Brigade and St John's Ambulance which was very rewarding. I love being a Grandma, music, crafts, the outdoors and animals - I have just started a new hobby of wild swimming with friends.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Kings Park Care Home

Eyes Down...
It was eyes down recently for the residents here at Kings Park, as everyone gathered for some BINGO fun...
There were some very intense looks of concentration on everyone's faces as everyone focused on the game in hand.
There was all to play for, with 'all' equalling some fudge, some shortbread and a beauty set!
HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to our Bingo winners: Gerry, Anne & Jean, who were all rather pleased with themselves and their wins!

New 'Pop-up' Art Exhibition
Next time you are in Ferndown, why not stop by here at Kings Park and come and view the new 'pop-up' art exhibition...
Daily from 9am - 5pm - Until 19th August
We have joined forces with the wonderful folk from Ferndown Arts Society, who have kindly brought in some of their wonderful pieces of art for everyone here in the home to view and enjoy.
This temporary exhibit will stay in place here in the home until the 19th August and we would love to welcome you along to come and see it for yourself!
Come along with your friends and family and enjoy looking at the art (some pieces are even for sale too!), learn more about the Ferndown Arts Society and enjoy a cuppa, some cake and a tour of the home whilst you're here.
On hand to welcome the exhibition and the Ferndown Arts Society into our home, were our Resident Ambassadors, Eric & Gerry - Pictured.

Avonwood Angels...
The residents were very eagerly awaiting the arrival of some special guests to the home recently...
The fantastic children from Avonwood Primary School came for a special visit to showcase some of their handmade puppets, which the students lovingly created themselves, before putting on a show for those in attendance.
The show, which went down a storm, was then followed by a spot of singing and also story telling as they individually read to the residents.
Everyone had a truly memorable afternoon, especially several of our residents who have been school teachers, saying that it had brought back some wonderful memories from their own days of teaching!
THANK YOU AVONWOOD - Your visit has brought lots of joy and smiles to our home!

Music & Rhythm!
The ever wonderful Milarepa Malc Burgin was back in the home recently, much to everyone's delight...
Malcolm's sessions are such a wonderful thing to witness, engaging with everyone in his session and he has a brilliant way of connecting with all the residents on their level through the power of music, rhythm and music.
Bringing a lot of joy and fun to our Memory Lane floor, Malcolm's time in the home resonates with everyone in attendance long after the session ends.
THANK YOU, MALCOLM! We look forward to next time!

Cheerleaders in the Making!
We wish to thank our wonderful friends over at Ferndown First School for being such wonderfully attentive hosts recently...
On Thursday just gone, staff and residents went across to the school's sports field, where they all did a rather good impression of a cheerleading squad.
Joining the children and their families, onlookers were there to cheer the students on for their annual sports day event, which our residents LOVED!
There was music, merriment and even a spot of impromptu dancing from the residents and children alike, all soaking up the amazing atmosphere they had created.
Thank you to all the amazing children who took part and for making us all feel so welcome - You were wonderful!

Game, Set & Match!
Suffice to say that the residents here at Kings Park have been completely obsessed with the sport that has donned our TVs of late, is an understatement...
In particular, the Wimbledon tennis championships have been avidly watched on almost every TV in the home and much of the conversation in the aftermath of each big game, has been overheard in the dining rooms over meals.
With Wimbledon the inspiration for many to get moving, here's some wonderful pictures of one mother/daughter duo really getting into the spirit of things!
