Activities at Juniper House Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Hayley Brice

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I’m Hayley I joined Juniper House In 2023. I have around six years’ experience in health and social care, starting as a healthcare assistant and then as I increasingly noticed how important residents well-being is in their daily life, onto an activities co-ordinator. I have grown passionate about improving their quality of life on a daily basis and being a companion and smiling face for our residents. I love to encourage residents to continue with things which they have always done throughout their life such as gardening or arts and crafts and also trying new things like learning a new dance technique! I am passionate about ensuring residents keep in contact with the community, so we regularly board the mini bus and I drive them to somewhere which they will love.

My favourite activities are in the summer where I plan many events to take place outside in the sunshine. Any excuse to be outside, whether it’s out in our greenhouse or having a drink in the garden with live music. I think this is such a happy time for residents and their families.

Life at Juniper House Care Home

A Big Thank You

We would like to say a big thank you for all the support that we have received during this unprecedented time. We have been overwhelmed by the amount of support, offers of help and gifts from so many of you connected to our home, either though our residents, staff or professionally. We would also like to thank the community of Brackley for all its support; it really has meant so much to us all here at Juniper – thank you!

Virtual Carnival Day

Brackley was filled with community spirit as the town's virtual carnival filled our streets, all whilst adhering to the government guidance on social distancing.

The town came together to celebrate Carnival Day with a difference. It was organised so that the people in Brackley could still enjoy a day of fun in place of the actual town's yearly carnival, which had to be cancelled due to the current ongoing pandemic.

Brackley Community Radio paid us a visit here at Juniper House and we were entertained by the wonderful local singer, Jenna, who point an an amazing performance, which left all the residents and staff speechless.

We are so proud to be part of this amazing community – thank you from Juniper House!

Juniper Flowers

We have had some lovely donations of flowers and plants. Thank you so much to Tesco, Waitrose and B&Q for their generosity, which has added some extra colour to our rooms and gardens.

Flowers for Friends

Juniper House is clearly the hub of its community. We have excellent relationship with a private school nearby, and yesterday they arrived here with flowers, cards and pictures for all the residents. The school has launched a campaign to support us through this difficult time, and they have called it 'Flowers for Friends'.

Seeing Cinderella

Juniper House went to the ball and we felt like princesses for the evening. We enjoyed a special night of laughter, song and dance when we watched a fantastic local amateur pantomime group  perform Cinderella. It certainly didn’t disappoint, and we all roared with laughter at the ugly sisters – oh yes we did!

From the opening scene to the last scene, it kept us all entertained throughout… And we will certainly be back next year for their next performance.

Act of Kindness Day

Juniper House in Brackley celebrated Random Act of Kindness day. It is celebrated by individuals, groups and organizations, nationwide, to encourage acts of kindness. It is a favourite day to many, as people everywhere are enjoying doing these acts of kindness.

Here at Juniper we wanted to celebrate random act of kindness day by saying thank you to those that help us from the local community – so off we went. Wrapped up warm residents and staff climbed aboard the minibus armed with chocolates and flowers to visit all those important people who make a difference to us and our life here at Juniper. It was our way of saying a big thank you to some of our local community,  some of our stops  included were the doctors and nurses at our GP surgery for looking after us all and keeping us well, the pharmacy for getting out medication to us on time, the fire station for being there to keep us safe, unfortunately the police officers  and ambulance officers were out but we will be sure to go back.

We popped into our local library to say a big thank you for making sure our residents technology is kept up-to-date with the latest bestsellers and the post office for making sure our residents mail is delivered on time.

We finished off at a local tea room enjoying a nice warm cuppa before returning to Juniper for our lunch.
