Activities at Juniper House Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Hayley Brice

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I’m Hayley I joined Juniper House In 2023. I have around six years’ experience in health and social care, starting as a healthcare assistant and then as I increasingly noticed how important residents well-being is in their daily life, onto an activities co-ordinator. I have grown passionate about improving their quality of life on a daily basis and being a companion and smiling face for our residents. I love to encourage residents to continue with things which they have always done throughout their life such as gardening or arts and crafts and also trying new things like learning a new dance technique! I am passionate about ensuring residents keep in contact with the community, so we regularly board the mini bus and I drive them to somewhere which they will love.

My favourite activities are in the summer where I plan many events to take place outside in the sunshine. Any excuse to be outside, whether it’s out in our greenhouse or having a drink in the garden with live music. I think this is such a happy time for residents and their families.

Juniper House Sports Day

This Year we held our very first sports day. The Day consisted of multiple competitions for staff, residents and visitors. There was lots going on for all, including; a 3-legged race, egg and spoon races, bowls, target practice and a push-up challenge!

Lots of medals were won and memories made.

We are going to make it an annual special event as it was enjoyed by all.

The King’s Coronation Celebration

Of course a big event in the month of May was the Kings coronation. We partied like royalty, with union jacks as far as the eye could see. With drinks, food, music and even a treat tombola. A big thank you to all friends, family and staff who came along to make the day special.

Brackley Medical Centre and Community Hospital Grand Opening

This month we headed out into the community in our mini bus to our local medical centres opening day. This is where our GP’s are based. It was lovely to see so many in the community and a chance to view the new premises.

Gardening Club

Our gardening club have been busy here at Juniper House. We planted some sunflower seeds a little while back, this month we brought them out of the greenhouse an re-potted them into some plant pots. You will see the sunflowers around the home. We can’t wait for them to flower!

Cream Tea at the Garden Centre

Some of our lovely ladies enjoyed going out on our mini bus to the Bell Plantation Garden Centre. Before finding a table in the garden centre Café to enjoy a delicious cream tea they enjoyed having a look around at the beautiful plants and flowers in the shop to get some inspiration for our gardens here at Juniper house.

Easter Celebrations

We were busy celebrating Easter throughout the start of April! Easter is an important time to all, lots of time spent with loved ones and lots of time eating chocolate! Our residents were busy getting creative undertaking Easter themed arts and crafts and baking some Chocolate nest Easter cakes to share. We also had a visit from Fiona Harrison, who performed her ‘Easter Bonnet’ Easter themed live show. It was lovely to reminisce and have a dance to her wonderful choice of songs.
