Activities at Juniper House Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Hayley Brice

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I’m Hayley I joined Juniper House In 2023. I have around six years’ experience in health and social care, starting as a healthcare assistant and then as I increasingly noticed how important residents well-being is in their daily life, onto an activities co-ordinator. I have grown passionate about improving their quality of life on a daily basis and being a companion and smiling face for our residents. I love to encourage residents to continue with things which they have always done throughout their life such as gardening or arts and crafts and also trying new things like learning a new dance technique! I am passionate about ensuring residents keep in contact with the community, so we regularly board the mini bus and I drive them to somewhere which they will love.

My favourite activities are in the summer where I plan many events to take place outside in the sunshine. Any excuse to be outside, whether it’s out in our greenhouse or having a drink in the garden with live music. I think this is such a happy time for residents and their families.

A Visit from Zoolab!

On the 3rd of April, we had the amazing ZooLab visit us here at Juniper House, with a great selection of interesting animals.

We got up close and personal with: a Gerbil, a Madagascan hissing cockroach, a Australian tree frog, a American corn snake, a Tortoise and a tarantula!

It was a chance to have a look at, touch and learn about the different animals and creepy crawlies. Staff and Residents all had fun this afternoon.

'Highly Commended' Care Home Award

Here at Juniper House, we are so proud to have been awarded 'Highly Commended Care Home' at The National Care Home Awards. This is all thanks to our amazing team and friends at Juniper House. A huge 'Thank You' to each and every one!

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

During the national week of morning residents reflected, reminisced and residents had an outing to Brackley Park to lay their floral tributes for HM Queen Elizabeth. Messages of thanks & poems were written to celebrate her life and give thanks for her dedicated service for the country and commonwealth.

Making Music

There are many residents and staff at Juniper House with musical talents which makes our musical activities very special when we can come together to listen and sing a long whilst residents play their  guitar or a piano is played.

Celebrating Onam Indian Harvest Festival

Celebrating equality and diversity at Juniper House during Onam Harvest Festival. Residents and staff came together to celebrate the Indian Harvest Festival with dancing, music, food whilst learning about Onam harvest traditions which are special and important for members of the Juniper House team.

Commonwealth Games

Residents have enjoyed a summer of sport and the Commonwealth Games was a highlight. The Juniper coffee shop was turned into a fan zone and residents gathered to cheer on their home nations. We even tried some games of our own in the garden!
