Activities at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Activities here at Iddenshall Hall are an integral part of every day life for each of our residents. We strive to include as many of our residents as possible with the activities schedule. Our Schedule is released monthly and includes activities such as poetry afternoons, indoor games, Bingo, flower arranging, pamper days, quizzes, exercises, various musicians and entertainers, Pat Dog Visits, Music Therapy, discussion groups and trips out in our minibus to local places of interest and further afield to see the Blackpool Lights or to Knowsley Safari Park.

We are constantly asking the people who live in our home which events they would like to see taking place and we endeavor to fulfill these requests. Our aim is to provide a varied and packed schedule which allows for a vast array of skill bases and capabilities. We are in constant contact with local groups and businesses, the local Beaver Scout group are always happy to pay a visit to our home, helping with the garden or coming at Christmas to sing carols for us. We also have a small group of volunteers to help us, including pupils from our local 6th form College who visit once a week.

All the above helps ensure the lives of our Residents are fun and fulfilled.

HOME SAYS BORE DA TO WELSH LANGUAGE DAY

Residents at Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View celebrated Welsh Language Day which took place on 5th February.

Welsh Language Day is part of an initiative by the Welsh government to raise the profile of Welsh music and to try to get 1 million people speaking Welsh by 2050.

Residents took part in different Welsh-based activities throughout the day including learning some Welsh words and phrases, reading Welsh short stories and poetry, listening to Welsh music on Spotify, and a colourful arts and crafts session.

International Puzzle Day

The 29th of January marked 'International Puzzle Day'.  We have a fair few puzzle fans in our home, however 'International Puzzle Day' encouraged a few others to get involved and enjoy the simple pleasures of a jigsaw puzzle. We have built up a vast selection of puzzles at our home, so the residents have plenty to choose from.

Have any of our followers been working on any jigsaw puzzles recently? We'd love to hear about them!

Dignity Action Day

Here at Iddenshall Hall residents and colleagues have created a ‘Dignity Tree’ as a symbol and promotion of the International Day of Dignity, during our Arts and Crafts Club held each Tuesday. During the session we also reflected upon what Dignity means to us,  then each resident wrote a word or phrase about it

What's not to love about Chocolate!

Staff and residents had a fantastic time celebrating International Chocolate Cake Day, surely one of the best days of the year!

Overseen by head chef, John who prepared especially a selection of home-made cakes for Residents to decorate. Once they had cooled, everyone got busy decorating with icing, buttercream, marshmallows, dolly mixture, and more to make some of the most fabulous cakes in town.

General Manager, Patricia Mccormack said: “It wasn’t just the residents that were excited when we found out there was an International Chocolate Cake Day, the eyes of all our staff lit up too – everyone loves chocolate cake and even better when there is a good excuse to eat it!”

Pamper morning

Residents have enjoyed a morning of pampering, courtesy of the very kind team in the home. With some Residents having to spend a little more of their time in their own rooms or having to social distance in the lounge, the activities team felt that Residents needed a good old pamper day.  What colour would you chose?

Dominoes fun

Residents enjoy a game of dominos at Iddenshall Hall as part of their popular games afternoons. A number of residents at Iddenshall Hall had a great time playing a game of dominos with each other and squeezed in a quick natter and a cuppa in between games.  Everyone had fun as they showed a little friendly competition each game!
