Activities at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Activities here at Iddenshall Hall are an integral part of every day life for each of our residents. We strive to include as many of our residents as possible with the activities schedule. Our Schedule is released monthly and includes activities such as poetry afternoons, indoor games, Bingo, flower arranging, pamper days, quizzes, exercises, various musicians and entertainers, Pat Dog Visits, Music Therapy, discussion groups and trips out in our minibus to local places of interest and further afield to see the Blackpool Lights or to Knowsley Safari Park.

We are constantly asking the people who live in our home which events they would like to see taking place and we endeavor to fulfill these requests. Our aim is to provide a varied and packed schedule which allows for a vast array of skill bases and capabilities. We are in constant contact with local groups and businesses, the local Beaver Scout group are always happy to pay a visit to our home, helping with the garden or coming at Christmas to sing carols for us. We also have a small group of volunteers to help us, including pupils from our local 6th form College who visit once a week.

All the above helps ensure the lives of our Residents are fun and fulfilled.

Sensory fun

Residents in our Beeston View community have enjoyed a sensory activity, trying to identify and name different herbs by sight, touch and smell. They then planted the herbs to create their very own mini herb garden which when established we are hoping to share with our Chefs here in Beeston View!

Comic Relief Red Nose Day

Residents in Beeston View have celebrated Red Nose Day with a fun-filled morning decorating delicious biscuits baked by the homes hospitality team with silly faces and most importantly BIG RED NOSES!  Much fun was had by all and best of all, the Residents enjoyed eating their creations with their afternoon cuppa.

Home goes green for St Patrick's Day

Residents and staff at Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View in Clotton celebrated all things Irish for St Patrick’s Day this week. The home was decorated with shamrocks and everyone got dressed up in green to mark the day.

Held on March 17th, Saint Patrick's Day actually observes the death of St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, but the day has come to be a huge celebration of Irish heritage and culture.

Staff and residents at the home marked the day by making shamrock decorations, learning some Irish words and phrases, learning Irish dances, listening to Irish music.

Nutrition and Hydration Week

Residents will be enjoying a sensory experience throughout this week as they celebrate – Nutrition and Hydration Week – with stimulating flavours, smells, a variety of fruits and ‘tapas; to promote healthy living and the importance of staying hydrated.

The week kicked off with delicious smoothies and everyone enjoyed the flavours, with some returning for 2nds!  Residents enjoyed watching how smoothies were created as they socialise together and talked about their favourite foods.

Mother's Day

Residents at Barchester Healthcare’s Iddenshall care home, in Clotton, celebrated Mother’s Day with a fun-filled day of games, music, flowers and Skype calls with the family. The home was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and bunting for the occasion.

Staff at the home arranged more details of celebrations with flowers for every resident, afternoon tea, discussion about how the role of the mother has changed, reminiscences about the residents’ childhood.

International Women's Day

We celebrated Women's Day with a photo session highlighting our great women residents of this home “Iddenshall Hall”. It was an afternoon where we talked about important women in the UK and we were also talking about women's things as one of them said. It was also a moment of reflection and sharing experiences as a women.
