Activities at Hyacinth House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

I am a friendly and enthusiastic Activity Coordinator with a passion for working with people and making a positive impact in their lives. Hyacinth House turns one!

We celebrated our first year in the community with a Jubilant Barbeque Party!

Residents, staff and guests enjoyed live music from Mark Busell and a later performance by Nigel Revill while Chris Howat amazed us with his close-up magic as he mingled amongst guests. Shout out to Marcin from The Rolling Bars for keeping the drinks flowing!

Special thanks to Town Mayor Terry Cordery for joining us and to Colin and Ruth Weston. Colin, played a key role in our official opening of the care home last year during his role as High Sheriff of Dorset, we were delighted to welcome them back for the anniversary.

General Manager, Kamila Gagala said: It’s been a whirlwind of a year with so many wonderful achievements, we are excited for the next one! We have provided a caring home for our residents.. The day not only enables us to celebrate and recognise the hard work of the staff, but it's also an opportunity to thank the residents, their relatives and friends who have made Hyacinth House such a loving home.”

Back to School Wisdom from our Residents

As the school year starts soon, our residents were asked what they would like say in a message for our local school children to help kick off the term.

Check out the photos we’ve taken of their advice!

A visit to see our Neighhhh-bours!

Gwen and Phyllis fancied a change of scenery and so we paid a visit the horses next door.  We really enjoy spending time with these beautiful animals and watching them. They seem to be getting used to our visits, maybe it's something to do with the delicious treats of carrots and apples we bring, (with their owners permission of course). One in particular was lapping up the attention!

Blooming marvellous!

With some of these less bright days we've been experiencing, we decided to fill the home with bursts of colour and bring a little sunshine indoors. You can see the focus and care that went in to creating these beautiful displays.

Sometimes, all it takes is a bit of colour and a bit of creativity to brighten the day!

There's nothing like a bit of healthy competition to keep everyone on their toes!

Our favourite garden games are always a hit - Whether it's a round of skittles or a game of quoits, there's something for everyone to enjoy. When we want to exercise our minds, word or board games like Categorically Speaking and Scrabble are the favourites for keeping us sharp and social!

It's about friendly rivalry with fun, laughter and good company.

We love it when Tops Day Nurseries: Wimborne visit!

Recently Tops Nurseries, Wimborne visited us. They visit once a month and it is wonderful to see the children and our residents interact, forming relationships. They have fun on the way to us and enjoy seeing the horses.
