My 92 year old mother recently spent a week in Hyacinth House for a respite stay. The home has a very friendly atmosphere and the staff are caring and professional. The interior is modern, decorated in a homely fashion and kept spotlessly clean. They are well organised and respond quickly to queries from relatives. There are varied activities and trips out for the residents. My mother got on well with the staff and other residents and very much enjoyed her short stay. I would not hesitate to recommend the home.

As a visitor I can attest to the quality of the coffee and cakes, and the residents' food looks varied and well-presented. I can strongly recommend Hyacinth House."

I did look at several homes for my mum who is recovering from a hip operation.and needed a little help for a few weeks before returning home .
As soon as I walked into hyacinth house and was greeted by Hannah I knew this was the place for her , it has a fabulous feel about it .After a few days of having her hair done and amazing treatment from all the staff she got her spark back .
The staff are amazing , me and my family have been in many times and are always offered coffee and cake which I have to say is delicious
Nothing is to much trouble.Its such a relief knowing she has been looked after properly and lunch is always a 3 course meal .
And today was her 95 th birthday and they made an amazing cake for her .and all sang happy birthday.
So for anyone needing a little help for any family

Hello, I have been here at Hyacinth House for 2.5 years and was the first resident here. We are a very happy family. Because we are a small home we know each other and happily do things together. Our activities are good. We have trips out in our minibus to interesting places and have coffee and tea in lovely beauty spots. The staff are wonderful and look after us well and meet all of our needs when we need them day and night. To me now it's home.

"Wow! My Aunt has just finished her 2 weeks respite stay at Hyacinth house and I couldn't recommend this home highly enough. The friendliness of all the staff and the care they gave her was amazing. She settled very quickly and seemed to really enjoy her stay. She loved the company and the support they gave her was wonderful. The 2 weeks respite did her the world of good and she is keen to come back again in the future. She really will miss everyone and doesn't stop talking about the activities. Thank you so much for making her stay a happy one."

My great auntie has stayed at Hyacinth House several times for respite care and has always absolutely loved her time there, when a permanent room became available she had no hesitation to move in full time.
All of the staff are incredibly friendly, caring, and attentive, and go out of their way to make my auntie feel comfortable, loved, and valued. The food is outstanding, with a great variety and clearly a lot of thought put into each meal. There is always some form of activity going on for residents during the day, not just in the home but also trips out to local shops and towns.
The atmosphere there is warm, welcoming, and homely - it is an absolute joy to visit her in Hyacinth house!

I honestly can’t speak highly enough of Barchester Hyacinth House Care Home. From the moment you walk through the doors, you’re greeted with warmth, kindness and genuine care. The staff are not only professional and attentive, but truly compassionate — they treat residents with dignity, respect and heartfelt understanding.

If you’re looking for a safe, caring and uplifting environment for a loved one, Hyacinth House is an absolute gem. Highly recommended.

I cannot speak highly enough of Hyacinth House. From the very first visit, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming and genuinely caring. The staff go above and beyond every single day, treating residents with real dignity, kindness and respect.
The home itself is always spotless, beautifully maintained and feels more like a family home than a care facility. The team take the time to get to know each resident personally, making sure their individual needs and preferences are met. Communication with families is excellent, and nothing ever feels like too much trouble.
The activities and social events are wonderful, creating a vibrant and engaging environment where residents can truly enjoy life. It gives such peace of mind knowing your loved one is safe, happy and so well cared for.

"My siblings and I were looking for care for our mother. After several hospital stays, my mother felt the time had come where she needed more care to help her live safely. We wanted somewhere close to where she has lived all her life and Hyacinth House was recommended and we loved it straightaway on visiting. My mother had been there now for about 6 weeks. The home itself is attractive, welcoming but not overwhelming and huge like some care homes are nowadays. Inside, everything is very clean and tastefully decorated. There is always a warm welcome for visitors too. Most importantly, everyone working there is so lovely and can't do enough for you and your family member. There are lots of activities every day, which she enjoys very much and has made lots of friend. Can't recommend Hyacinth House enough!!"

"My Grandad has attended don't dine alone a couple of times now and has been made to feel very welcome on each visit. The staff are very friendly and made him feel at ease straight away. He was very anxious about going somewhere new but the smile he came out with showed what a wonderful time he'd had. For someone who doesn't get out as much as they used too, this was the highlight of his week. He said the food was delicious and how nice it was to sit and chat to other people again. He even joined in with the activity afterwards.Thank you for giving him such a lovely afternoon."

"Dad stayed at Hyacinth House for two weeks respite care. I cannot praise it highly enough, the staff were wonderful, very caring, compassionate and sensitive to his needs. They encouraged him to join in with the daily activities and eat with other residents in the dining room. Each time I visited I was warmly welcomed and communication from the staff was faultless. "I and my daughter Rosalind were most impressed with Hyacinth House from the moment she called in to get a brochure, she was most impressed with the home and the atmosphere of great friendliness, as was I, who met the manager and who the next day came to meet me in my home. My stay of 3 weeks enabled me to get back to sleeping well, which I hadn't been for many months. The staff were outstanding in their professionalism and their very sensitive care was greatly appreciated. I attended some very helpful exercise classes and feel so much stronger because of my stay."

"Another excellent extended respite stay for my mother. During the time we have been using Hyacinth House, Mum's mobility has deteriorated. She now uses a wheelchair and rollator and needs assistance transfering between equipment, getting dressed, washing and toileting, which is all provided by the Hyacinth team with the utmost care and dignity. This is truely a friendly care home where all the team take time to talk with Mum and get to know her visitors. Mum also loves the food her and enjoys the activities and outings. You are all amazing and should be proud of the care provided."

"I have visited Hyacinth House a couple of times with my Community Dog Louis. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and make you feel at home straightaway. The facilities and decor are very homely and I see there is a full programme of visits and activities. The residents all seem happy and well-catered, for with staff approaching several times while I've been visiting to check everyone is alright. I love visiting with Louis as it's such a warm and inviting place"
