Activities at Hethersett Hall Care Home

Activities, hobbies and interests make up the most important part of our days and who we are as people. We provide a varied activities programme that reflects the interests and capabilities of all the individuals we support. All of the group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. We achieve this through a constantly updated activities programme and one-to-one sessions with residents that are tailored to suit individuals needs. We also offer a range of outings in our mini-bus.

Caroline Evans

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I’m Caroline Evans and I’ve been at Hethersett Hall for 7 years now and been in the care sector for 13 years and believed it was time for a change in my career at Barchester.

I’m extremely motivated for my new role as activities coordinator. I hope I will bring joy and fun to everyone’s daily lives. I am a highly active and bubbly person. Looking after other people has always been my priority and I will do my best every day to make sure everyone is happy, safe and smiling.

I look forward to meeting you and hope you will all join in the events and activities that I will bring to Hethersett Hall.

Barbers are in the Hall

The gentleman at Hethersett Hall had a fabulous treat come in today. We had the mobile barbers join us for a proper wet shave. Gents looked rather dapper when done.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

What a great day we had celebrating St Patricks with our wonderful residents!

Staff made an amazing effort with their costumes, one of our fantastic carers Shannon even made t – shirts for her team with everyones name on, brilliant!

Our Head Chef Becky and her kitchen team made traditional Irish food for lunch and dinner as well as sweet treats throughout the day.

In the afternoon Mulligans Stew entertained our residents with great Irish songs while we served drinks including Guiness (of course) and Mini Guiness’s too.

A true irish knees up was had by all, Happy St Paddys Day everyone!

102 heres looking at you!

One of our residents turned the grand age of 102 recently.  What an incredible achievement!

The things they have seen in the last 100 years, living through the war, the coronation of our dear late Queen, changing of currency and so many other things.

Speaking to Betty I asked her what has been her favourite decade, to which she replied “ Oh my dear, your going back years, they all hold fond memories for me”

Betty celebrated in style with a pamper session by our Beauty Therapist Emily Collins, time spent with family and of course this fabulous cake!

Garden Centre Greatness

Activities within our home are great but its always nice to get out of the house occasionally, minibus trips provide a way for our residents to get a change of scenery and boost wellbeing.

We recently took a trip to Wymondham Garden centre where we had a mooch round and found some great seasonal plants and flowers, even finding one of the GO GO Dinos lurking near the greenhouses.

After a good look round it was time for a well deserved cup of tea and a homemade cake. Lovely!

Pamper Perfection

Valentines themed pamper sessions with our resident beauty therapist Emily Collins was a big hit this week.

The residents loved choosing the colour for their nails, followed by a hand massage to finish the session. The wonderful smell of the handcreams was amazing!

Some residents opted for a facial which was so relaxing and one of our ladies Betty said “It feels so refreshing”. We can’t wait for Emily to come back soon!

Friendly Fridays with Friend in Deed

We work closely with Friend in Deed, they provide an invaluable service to carehomes by encouraging parents and their little ones to come into homes and meet our residents. The intergenerational friendships formed with our residents and little ones is absolute gold and some little ones that have been coming for a few years who are now a little older still come and visit.

The happiness children bring to our older generation is so special, it gives you a warm feeling inside to see the smiles on our residents faces.
