Activities at Glenroyd Care Home

Here at the Glenroyd our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. Everyone is different and gets pleasure from different things and here at Glenroyd we understand that and therefore try to provide a programme of activity that is tailored to individuals needs. We do this by gathering information and life history work and using that information to feed into our activities schedule. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Agata Prendota

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Agata Prendota and I am the activities coordinator here at Glenroyd. I have worked at Glenroyd since 2014 and in April 2022 transferred to activities. I developed a strong relationship with many of our residents and their families. This has helped me to create a tailored activities program focused on maximizing everyone’s wellbeing, independence, and social engagement.

It is my goal to create a stimulating environment that enables to provide imaginative, fun, and motivational activities that suit every interest and ability. My infectious enthusiasm and creative approach are the key to inspire our residents and staff to get involved in activities both within the home and in the local community.

I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in daily activities.

Life at Glenroyd Care Home

Herstory of Mayfair

‘Herstory’ of Mayfair

Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.

We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas.  The experience was truly enjoyed by all.

Birthday Celebration!

We are so thrilled to share the amazing time we had celebrating Barbara's birthday recently. The party was a true delight, made even more special with the wonderful contributions of her family and our dedicated team.

The highlight of the afternoon was undoubtedly the live music entertainment that had everyone on their feet! The talented Marianne kept the energy high, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with laughter, joy, and happy memories. We could see Barbara and our residents truly enjoying themselves, singing along to their favourite tunes and even showing off their dance moves. It was a sight to behold!

And let's not forget the delicious refreshments that were served at the party. The spread included a mouth-watering assortment of cheese and crackers, complemented by perfectly juicy grapes, nuts, and delectable pastries. Our taste buds were in paradise, thanks to the efforts and thoughtfulness of Barbara's family and our caring team.

Of course, a birthday celebration wouldn't be complete without a cake, and our talented chef outdid themselves with a scrumptious creation for Barbara. The birthday cake was a true masterpiece, beautifully decorated and filled with flavour that delighted everyone's taste buds.

We are extremely grateful to Barbara's family for organising such a fantastic event, and to our amazing activities team for ensuring everything ran smoothly. Their dedication and hard work made this birthday party an unforgettable experience for Barbara and all our residents. Thank you for your love and commitment to making every moment special and enjoyable for everyone at Glenroyd.

The joy and laughter that filled our community during this celebration were truly heart-warming. It's these moments that remind us of the true value of togetherness and the warmth of our Glenroyd Care Home family.

Church Choir Visit

Our wonderful residents were graced with a magical visit from the illustrious Tabernacle Church Choir, right in the comfort of our vibrant garden this afternoon. Their melodic harmonies filled the air with joy and their powerful voices touched all of our hearts in extraordinary ways.

As rain began to fall, we were reminded of the beautiful unity found in life's unpredictability. Rather than dampening our spirits, it only heightened the togetherness. We retreated to the warmth of our conservatory for some comforting tea and delightful refreshments, while still accompanied by the uplifting strains of the gospel choir music.

Watching our residents share smiles, reminisce about the hymns they grew up with, was a truly humbling scene. To see that the soothing power of music knows no borders, and that memories are always alive when shared with others, has indeed been a blessing.

Despite the rain, the spirit remained as sunny as ever, and this afternoon was filled with an abundance of love, remembrance, and unity.

Thank you, Tabernacle Church Choir, for the gift of your music and message, turning an ordinary afternoon into a precious memory.

National Chocolate Day

Oh, what a marvellous day it has been at Glenroyd Care Home as our cherished residents came together to celebrate the sweetest day of the year, National Chocolate Day! Here's a glimpse into the irresistible activities that filled our day:

To kick off the morning, our residents hosted a chocolate-themed baking club, with the delightful help of the children who visited today. Together, they mixed, stirred, and baked an array of heavenly chocolate treats. Laughter and excitement filled the air as generations came together to create something delicious and memorable.

After the baking adventure, our residents delighted in the fresh air and beauty of our garden. Surrounded by vibrant flowers and serene greenery, they enjoyed the gentle breeze, soaking in the tranquillity of nature. It was the perfect setting to relax, chat, and share stories, creating precious bonds along the way.

But the chocolate indulgence didn't stop there! In the afternoon, our residents and the delightful children joined together in the garden once more, this time to savour a delightful selection of chocolates and enjoy hot chocolate. With activity books in hand, everyone immersed themselves in the joy of reading, snacking, and sharing quality time together. The rich flavours of chocolate were perfectly complemented by the laughter and smiles that filled the air.
