Activities at Friston House Care Home

Our activity coordinators are constantly working to stimulate our residents both mentally and physically by organising group and individual activities for every one within the home to participate in. We have regular outings in our mini bus to various attractions within the area and in the summer we like to take our residents to the seaside, where they can enjoy fish and chips by the beach. Our activity programme is just one of the important aspects of the care home and we try our best to arrange the activities that our residents will enjoy.

David Johnson

Head of Activities

I am David, I have been working at Friston House since December of 2023.

I have a background in the visitor attraction sector as an events and activities manager, working with families to create engaging, fun activities that result in long-lasting memories. It is my belief that care home activities should be just as fun, engaging, inclusive to all and worthwhile. Either as a group, self-led or on a one-to-one basis.

Reminiscence Session

Our residents and staff here at Friston House Care Home were feeling very sad about the loss of her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth ll, we decided to have a reminiscence session of our favourite memories, helping her to live on in our Memories forever. Residents enjoyed a glass of Sherry to commemorate the sad occasion.

Chatham Dockyard

Residents at Friston House have grown up with fond memories of the dockyard, some of them working there, some visiting, some remembering their parents who worked there. Regardless of how, most of our residents have some connection to Chatham Dockyard. We were absolutely delighted when Tracy and Lindsey came in to give a talk about the Dockyard, specifically a Sailors Life. One of our residents even took to dressing up for the occasion and brought his board of knots to show the ladies.

A lovely afternoon for our Best of British Pantomime from Carousel Theatre Company. Our residents had a wonderful time singing along and enjoyed dressing up in the hats and waving their flags.

Summer Fete

Wow what a turn out on Saturday for our fete! We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped us set up and everyone who came along to look at our stalls. We are so pleased to announce we made a wonderful £500 for the Kent Air Ambulance.
