Activities at Flowerdown Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Kate Harfield

Activities Coordinator

Hello My Name is Kate Harfield I have been at Flowerdown care Home for about a year now as the activity coordinator I really enjoy my role meeting the residents and families on a daily basis.

I have worked in all aspects of care from being a carer who supports people in their own homes to working with people who have learning disabilities.

I do have a busy family life with my husband, daughter and our dog Patch- we also have PAT dogs that come into our home which both I and the residents really enjoy.

I also enjoy taking people outside in our lovely garden as I feel that being in nature really helps to improved wellbeing as I also enjoy walking my dog every morning.

A Sweet Reunion

Gatherings made special here at Flowerdown Care Home. One of our residents was reunited with his 99 year old mum seen smiling, left of the photo. Our Home aims to maintain and foster relationships to ensure the well-being of our residents. We strive to think of ways to go the extra mile to make occasions like this special.

In Memory of the Queen

Our residents reminiscing the Queen with our lovely volunteer, Pat (our laundry assistant) - sharing stories from their childhood up to their adult years. We have heard wonderful memories of our residents' lives being positively affected by the Queen either directly or indirectly. Come read our residents' cards to the Queen displayed in the ground floor dining hall!

Sing Me a Song

Is Jacob becoming a mobile juke box? Our residents at Flowerdown Care Home had another pleasant chance to have this gentleman sing for them - this time, in the bedroom! How wonderful to listen to your favourite tunes live! Just another perk at Flowerdown.

The Joy of Youth

Our residents enjoyed a friendly visit from this little gentleman. The energy of this youthful boy brought so much laughter and smiles to our residents. In exchange for his funny stories, our little visitor enjoyed treats to last him the weekend!

Long Service Award

Jo, our second chef at Flowerdown Care Home, celebrates 15 joyful years of continuous service! Jo was one of the kitchen assistants way back, and has progressed in his career to be one of the wonderful chefs in the Home creating dishes that our residents enjoy.

Jo's anniversary was celebrated with a generous voucher, wine, chocolates, and the Barchester gold leaf pin- a symbol of loyalty and dedication to his career.

Singalong Turned Dance Along

Although our residents at Flowerdown Care Home were encouraged minimal physical activities to beat the heat, this singalong morning turned to a choreographed dance routine! Our residents are encouraged to have as much fun to improve their moods and well-being. Look at our staff members Renuka and Arati showcasing their talents. They don't just provide care to our lovely residents, but entertainment, too!! Now that's what we call multi-faceted!
