Activities at Florence Court Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jessica Duery

Senior Activities Co-Ordinator

I have been working in the Care Sector for 5 years and started out as a Domestic and Laundry Assistant. I decided that I wanted to progress my career in an activities capacity, so I became an activities provider, then progressed to an Activities Co-Ordinator which I did for 2 years prior to joining the team at Florence Court.

I have a real passion for Activities and get a great deal of pleasure in enriching the residents' lives through meaningful activities. I love getting to know the residents and spending time with them finding out what they love to do. Every day is very different and rewarding.

I am currently studying to advance my knowledge and career path. I am very grateful for the support Barchester gives to enable me to do this.

When I'm not at work, I love to travel and visit new places. I also enjoy the time I spend with my cocker spaniel, Cooper.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Trip to Beaulieu Motor Museum

Today we enjoyed a special minibus trip to Beaulieu Motor Museum.

Classic cars are a love and hobby for David and many of our residents. They are all very passionate about vehicles and once we learned of their love of cars we decided to plan a trip to the National Motor Museum to discover more and admire the history of motoring. We enjoyed strolling around all the classic vehicles and discovering their origins. It was a wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all, reminiscing old family cars and the classic cars they once owned whilst admiring Beaulieu’s collection.

International Flower Day

Yesterday residents enjoyed making beautiful flower arrangements to decorate our home in commemoration of the day. International Flower Day promotes the psychological boost that flowers can give to people. From growing and nurturing plants and flowers, to gifting flowers to show love and appreciation, and sometimes just the simple act of admiring their beauty – flowers have the power to make someone’s day
