Activities at Florence Court Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jessica Duery
I have been working in the Care Sector for 5 years and started out as a Domestic and Laundry Assistant. I decided that I wanted to progress my career in an Activities capacity so became an activities provider then progressed to an Activities Co-Ordinator which I did for 2 years prior to joining the team at Florence Court . I have a real passion for Activities and get a great deal of pleasure in enriching the residents life's through meaningful activities. I love getting to know the residents and spending time with them finding out what they love to do. Every day is very different and rewarding.

Mini Golf, Major Fun!
Mini golf, Major fun!
Today we went on a trip to Solent Adventure Golf Ltd and enjoyed a round of crazy golf.
Our residents had a wonderful time competing to be the best golfer. It was a fun and interactive way to promote low-impact physical activity, helping improve residents' mobility, coordination, and balance.
There was lots of fun, laughter and healthy competition as we made our way round the course, boosting everyone’s spirits

National Ice Cream Day
We celebrated National Ice Cream Day with a visit from local ice cream van Jakes Flakes. The sun was shining and everyone indulged in a delicious ice cream. It brought lots of nostalgic feelings for our residents; being able to order from the van themselves! Even our staff were treated to a delicious treat for all of their hard work, especially in this hot weather.
A fantastic time was had by all!

A trip with a view
We spent a lovely afternoon on Portsdown Hill enjoying the beautiful weather and amazing view. Our residents loved looking out over Portsmouth admiring the scenery and enjoying a delicious ice cream.
We love getting out on the bus, especially when the sun is shining!

Candy Cart
This week we have introduced a new sweet cart to our Bistro area for residents to enjoy!
Our activities coordinator spent the weekend painting and filling the cart full of sweets our residents would’ve enjoyed back in their day. Today our residents got to enjoy it for the first time, hand selecting which sweets they would like. Many residents especially enjoyed the ration books we added; sharing memories of when they had to use them during the war. The cart had everyone socialising this morning, bonding over their love of sweets and evoking nostalgic memories.
Even our visiting NHS workers stopped by the cart for a well deserved sweet treat!

Flowers of Florence Gardening Club
Flowers of Florence Gardening club
Today we spent the afternoon planting up our new herb/vegetable garden. Our residents worked together to create this beautiful space, planting fresh herbs and tomato plants.
We specifically chose plants that would provide a sensory experience through their varied textures, scents, and colours, engaging our residents' senses and improving mood. We’re excited to take care of the plants and watch the space grow and bloom.

Pimms and Wimbledon
To get in the Wimbledon spirit we have created a themed lounge on our ground floor which we will constantly have the tennis playing live for our residents to enjoy.
Today we paired watching the game with a glass of Pimms and strawberries and ice cream. Our residents had a great time watching and discussing the matches and they are looking forward to watching the rest of the tournament in our luxury lounge!
