Activities at Florence Court Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jessica Duery

Senior Activities Co-Ordinator

I have been working in the Care Sector for 5 years and started out as a Domestic and Laundry Assistant. I decided that I wanted to progress my career in an Activities capacity so became an activities provider then progressed to an Activities Co-Ordinator which I did for 2 years prior to joining the team at Florence Court . I have a real passion for Activities and get a great deal of pleasure in enriching the residents life's through meaningful activities. I love getting to know the residents and spending time with them finding out what they love to do. Every day is very different and rewarding.

Couples Luncheon at Florence Court

At Florence Court we are lucky enough to have four resident couples, enjoying life to the full. The romance simply doesn’t stop just because you reside in a Care Home.

Four couples accepted their invitation for a ‘lovers lunch’ in our Sky Terrace restaurant, where the tables were adorned with red roses, candles and chocolates. Whilst they dined soft music played.

Trip to Beaulieu Motor Museum

Today we enjoyed a special minibus trip to Beaulieu Motor Museum.

Classic cars are a love and hobby for David and many of our residents. They are all very passionate about vehicles and once we learned of their love of cars we decided to plan a trip to the National Motor Museum to discover more and admire the history of motoring. We enjoyed strolling around all the classic vehicles and discovering their origins. It was a wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all, reminiscing old family cars and the classic cars they once owned whilst admiring Beaulieu’s collection.

Dementia Musical Moments - Ukulele Band

We had a wonderful time at our Musical Moments cafe this afternoon with Dementia Support - Hampshire & IOW. Residents enjoyed being joined by members of our local community to enjoy tea, coffee and cake and listen to an amazing performance from The Ukes of Wallington. They had everyone singing along, it was a wonderful atmosphere filled with smiles all round.

If you would like to join one of our Musical Moments sessions they happen every fourth Tuesday of the month.

International Flower Day

Yesterday residents enjoyed making beautiful flower arrangements to decorate our home in commemoration of the day. International Flower Day promotes the psychological boost that flowers can give to people. From growing and nurturing plants and flowers, to gifting flowers to show love and appreciation, and sometimes just the simple act of admiring their beauty – flowers have the power to make someone’s day

Florence getting 'Crafty'.

Today we enjoyed a minibus trip to Made by Me and had a great afternoon pottery painting! Residents handpicked their items to paint and designed their own beautiful works of art. We had a great laugh during our crafting session and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
