Activities at Falmouth Court Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Trip to Princess Pavilions

We took some of our residents out over the weekend to the breathtaking Princess Pavilion in Falmouth!

With bright smiles and eager anticipation, our residents embarked on a delightful adventure, relishing the chance to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature and enjoy some quality time in the company of friends.

The enchanting gardens of Princess Pavilions provided the perfect backdrop for a leisurely stroll and moments of serenity. Our residents revelled in the vibrant colours of blooming flowers and the soothing sound of rustling leaves, offering a tranquil escape from the everyday routine.

To top it off, our visit included a delightful stop at the pavilion's cozy café, where the tantalising aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air. The residents indulged in warm cups of coffee, engaging in heartwarming conversations and creating cherished memories.

At Falmouth Court Care Home, we believe in promoting well-being and cherishing precious moments. Seeing the smiles on our residents' faces as they explored the gardens and shared laughter over a cup of coffee warms our hearts.

Visit to Kenwyn's Memory Café

So our residents had a lovely trip over to our sister home Kenwyn Care Home - Barchester Healthcare to join them for their memory café. What a lovely visit it was with a visit from all sorts of animals and creatures from a barn owl to a large stick insect.

Our residents had a lovely warm welcome from all the residents and staff at Kenwyn and of course there was lots of delicious cake and coffee too.

World Cruise Tasting Event - Germany

Another very successful 'World Cruise' tasting event at Falmouth Court. This month we chose to stop in Germany to celebrate National Beer Day. Our chefs prepared lots of tasting bites for the residents to try all washed down with a variety of German beers for everyone to sample. The Black Forrest Gateau concluded the eating and went down very well.

Haley our General Manager got everyone singing along to some classics from the 'Sound of Music' and then the care team entertained everyone with a beer race around the garden!

Armed Forces Day Yacht Trip

Resident, Kay Stevenson-Bromley, here at Falmouth Court Care Home had wanted to return to the seas on a yacht again having previously sailed around the world in her younger years, so we made her wish a reality proving the old adage, it’s never too late.

Kay has lived at Falmouth Court for 6 months and is loved by staff and residents alike. Staff at the home were delighted to be a part of making her dream come true.

Haley our General Manager, who arranged the charter of yacht opted to take Kay, who was also accompanied by Pat Brown and Gerry Stock out into Falmouth Bay to watch the air show on Armed Forces Day. All 3 residents having big links to the Armed Forces throughout their lives.

Hugh our Home Services Advisor and Haley were determined to help Kay recreate a picture of Kay sitting on the bow of the yacht taken roughly 45 years ago. Kay was over joyed when her dream was realised

In response to this wonderful surprise, Kay, said: “It was such an amazing day. The team helping me to recreate my picture from my earlier years was such fun and something I will treasure. It is such an amazing feeling to know that such a loving group of people care so much about me that they helped me to live out a dream – and I didn’t even ask.”

Haley, said: “We believe that every moment is worth cherishing. We want everyone we care for to know how important they are to us here at Falmouth Court. It is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team here in making our residents’ dreams come true. It was wonderful to see how happy Kay, Pat and Gerry were – and the staff loved being a part of this as well.”

Royal Ascot at Falmouth Court

So on the day of Ascot Races we held our on version here at Falmouth Court for our residents & their families!

Everyone gathered in our garden and enjoyed Gin and Tonics along with some delicious Eton Mess prepared by our talented chefs.

Hugh our Home Services Advisor bought in a vintage game called Escaldo and luckily we managed to get through all 6 races before the heavens opened. Everyone had some 'fun money' to bet with, the biggest winnings in one race being £250!

A truly fun afternoon that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
