Activities at Edingley Lodge Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Halloween

Residents enjoyed participating in Halloween themed activities with the help from children from the local community, They loved seeing the children in their Halloween costumes, Everyone got involved with decorating cupcakes, arts and crafts and of course eating lot's of sweets!

Halloween has been around for more than a thousand years. Originally a religious observance, it became increasingly secular over the centuries until its religious trappings all but disappeared. Today Halloween is considered a holiday for dress up and fun, especially for children.

Art Class At Edingley Lodge

Here at Edingley Lodge we understand the value and positive impact arts have on health and wellbeing and we always aim to champion, promote and encourage arts engagement within the home. Yesterday we welcomed Graham Loughton from Edwinstowe art class into our home to hold a art class for our residents,

Some of our residents are familiar with Graham as they attend his art class in Edwinstowe weekly. Residents really enjoyed the afternoon with Graham and created some fine-looking masterpieces.

Barchester Charitable Foundation

We would like to say a huge thank you to Barchester's Charitable Foundation for gifting one our care assistants with an electric wheelchair, Staff and residents at Edingley Lodge got together to welcome Kelly back into the home to receive her chair, Kelly has had a difficult time over the last year, so it was so nice to be able to do something special for her, Kelly is a strong woman and a inspiration to us all! We wanted Kelly to say in her own words about her story and her appreciation." I was working as a care assistant at Edingley Lodge at the beginning of the year when I got the devastating news that I had been diagnosed with lung cancer and had to go through chemotherapy and radiotherapy, things were really going well as can be until one Sunday I started to get pains in my left leg and by Friday evening I was told I had to have my leg amputated, and my life changed completely. I have now come to terms with losing my leg and have adjusted well. I would like to say a big thank you to my Manger Jilu and Barchester for giving me so much independence back into my life by gifting me this electric wheelchair, It is amazing, I Cannot thank them enough. What a fantastic company to work for, I still visit the home to see residents and staff that I had to leave behind, I love spending time with them all. Thank you Barchester for changing my life and making me a very happy independent person, lots of love Kelly xx" A charity making a real difference to the lives of older people and other adults with disabilities in England, Scotland & Wales.
