Activities at Edgbaston Beaumont Care Home

Our team pride ourselves in providing a wide range of activities and events to suit all of our residents needs. Comprising of art and craft classes, pet therapy, outside entertainers, visits from local schools where students attend and work alongside ourselves and the residents. We also have presentations on wildlife and other demonstrations, musicality and singalongs, quizzes, a poetry corner, knit and natter sessions, and one to one interaction, as well as trips out in the mini bus. For our residents who are less mobile we bring the shopping experience to the home for their convenience. We respect everyone's religious beliefs by providing visits from all denominations, such as Anglican, Catholic, working in conjunction with the local mosque and the Jewish community and providing religious interaction. We encourage our residents families to participate in all our activities, working alongside them to ensure we provide the best service possible here at Edgbaston Beaumont.

Celia Palmer

Activity Coordinator

I’m Celia and I’m the Activity coordinator here at Edgbaston Beaumont.  I previously worked as an activity coordinator in a hostel and am enjoying the shift into the residential setting.  I have an arts background so enjoy painting and drawing in my spare time, which hopefully I can share my love for with the residents here.  I also enjoy reading, travel, live music and looking after my cats! And copious amounts of tea.

Easter Fun!

Our residents created Easter cards, decorated Easter trees and enjoyed reading Easter themed poetry and tested their knowledge with an Easter quiz. We had a special egg delivery from Living Eggs and hatched chicks which was wonderful. We also hosted an Easter Egg hunt in our gardens and invited the Children from Blue Coat School and the local community.

We all gathered for an Easter party and were entertained in the Lounge by the fabulous Melissa Hollick - Vintage Singer. Everyone got into the party spirit wearing colourful Easter bonnets and bunny ears and residents and staff were delighted to receive Easter eggs and flowers. On Easter Sunday residents enjoyed a delicious roast with all the trimmings.

Our residents enjoyed a delicious lunch of Cream of Potato Soup or Prawn Cocktail to start, Irish Stew served with traditional Colcannon for the main course followed by Irish Apple Cake or Bailey's Banana Trifle for dessert.

After lunch we all enjoyed musical entertainment from the amazing Naomi in the Lounge who entertained us with an Irish extravaganza. We all enjoyed singing, dancing and waving flags along to Irish classics Irish Rover, Belle of Belfast City, Danny Boy and Whiskey in the Jar to name just a few.

International Women's Day

To mark International Women’s Day, the ladies of Edgbaston Beaumont gathered in the Cafe for tea and coffee and talked about their lives, shared photographs and words of wisdom for young women today. We also took time to learn and talk about Inspirational women throughout history. It was lovely to all come together to reminisce and learn a bit more about each other.

We had a wonderful time celebrating St David's Day.

The dining room was decorated for the occasion with Welsh flags and beautiful daffodils. Our residents enjoyed a delicious lunch of Welsh Leak and Stilton Soup or Welsh Rarebit to start, Shepherd’s Pie or Leek and Potato Bake for the main course followed by traditional Bara Birth Welsh Tea Loaf with Whipped Cream for dessert.

After lunch we all enjoyed entertainment from the fantastic Barry in the Lounge who entertained us with a Welsh themed show and performed songs from famous Welsh singers such as Katherine Jenkins, Tom Jones, Shirley Bassy, Harry Seacombe and Richie Valens.

There was lots of waving of flags and singing along and we all had a lovely afternoon.

2nd Head Chef Rosie awarded a Distinction.

We are very proud to announce that Rosie our 2nd Head Chef, after a year of completing her Production Chef Apprenticeship, has passed with an overall Distinction.  Rosie has worked very hard during the last year and we all gathered today to congratulation her on this brilliant achievement. Our General Manager Sarah presented Rosie with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and chocolates as a token of thanks for all her hard work.

Congratulations Rosie and thank you for everything you do at Edgbaston Beaumont!

Historic Royal Palaces

Our residents were treated to a special virtual sensory storytelling session.  Together with Art Historian Jon Sleigh and the Historic Royal Palaces community team, we explored several royal palaces through the theme of food, dining and celebration!

We enjoyed a fantastic taste-a-long experience from the comfort of our home, from Tudor treats to Stuart sweets. A lovely time was had by all.
