Activities at Dudwell St Mary Care Home

Our activity coordinator provides our home with a fun-packed weekly programme to engage all residents. Past activities include bread making, pottery, knitting, and card making. Not only do we run regular exercise programmes for the residents but we also have our regular entertainers come in to entertain our residents and their families. The activity coordinator visits residents on a one-to-one basis, for a chat, manicure and hand massage. The activity co-ordinator said "Residents love the one-to-ones and especially enjoy the manicure and hand massage, as not only is it stimulating but it boosts their confidence and pride in their appearance.''

Linda Lawes

Activities Coordinator

My Name is Linda and I am one of the Activities Co-ordinators at Dudwell St. Mary care home.

I joined Dudwell St Mary in April 2008 as a Housekeeping Assistant and later became the Head of Housekeeping.  In 2018 I then became an activities co-ordinator where I brought lots of new exciting ideas to the role.

I am passionate about my role within the home and aim to bring a smile to all our residents’ faces through different types of activities. My personality is bright and bubbly so aim to share this each day at work.

As I gather the residents likes and dislikes if you would like to come and chat with me about your family member please contact the home to arrange.

Life at Dudwell St Mary Care Home

We love singing and dancing

Today we had the lovely Rosie in to sing for us. All the residents got involved with singing and dancing and it was a really great atmosphere and lots of fun.

Cheering on the Lionesses

We spent the morning cheering on the mighty lionesses.  We celebrated the result with a celebratory beer and now can't wait for the final on Sunday. Come on England!

A lovely stroll along the cuckoo trial

We took advantage of a dry sunny morning and went for a walk down part of the Cuckoo trail in Heathfield.

Annual garden party

Our garden party became an indoor party due to the inclement weather but that didn't dampen our party spirit. We danced, drank and had some tasty food and had the fabulous Phillip Robbins entertain us.

Hearing dogs for the deaf

We had a lovely visit from Sally and friends from the wonderful charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. We had a very informative talk about the charity and Lindsay introduced us to Meg her hearing dog and told us how much her life had changed once Meg came into her life. One of the residents said how much she enjoyed finding out about the charity that she had never heard of before.

Visit from Animal World

We had Our Amazing Animal World back for their monthly visit, this session was to take the animals to residents rooms. Residents love the interaction and always brings a smile to their faces.
