Activities at Dovedale Court Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Brian Sandham
My name is Brian, I’m the activities coordinator down here at Dovedale. I’m new to the care sector, I’ve been a photographer and photography tutor since 2004 dealing with different ages groups and abilities. I’m looking forward to putting my people skills to good use down here at Dovedale.
I might be new to the care sector but I’m super looking forward to spreading a bit of extra sunshine and cheer around the home.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Dovedale Court Care Home

Game on
The football table was out and a few residents got right into the football spirit. The football anthems were playing in the background. There was a couple of fouls and definitely a bit of rule breaking. A couple of sly tackles but a good tournament had by all.

When Elvis came to visit
What a great afternoon we had when Elvis ( aka Eddie P) came to play. The music was rocking and people were dancing and singing along. Eddie even stayed behind to meet all the residents that attended. Eddie will be coming back soon.

Shopping Trip
We took a little trip over to Capital way retail park, Preston. Our resident's sure know how to shop as we stopped to look at everything. We definitely needed a coffee stop to recover. Not back at the home 10 minutes and they were already asking to go back soon.

Christmas Treats
From Cocktails to Gingerbread houses we had fun making and eating some fabulous treats. We had the most fun building our own gingerbread village. It kept collapsing so we added more and more icing and just when you’d thought you’d won it collapsed some more. We did get there in the end and the very next day it got devoured by all. The plans are to go bigger and better for 2024.

A Visit to local Owl Sanctuary
During the week leading up to Christmas we decided to wrap up and visit our local owl sanctuary. Wow what a great selection of Owls and birds of prey. The resident thoroughly enjoyed the trip, The staff at Turbary owl Sanctuary where brilliant and have said we can have a go at flying them on our next visit so watch out for the pictures of this.

Residents Christmas Party
We had a fantastic day starting with a Christmas Buffet followed by a party with singer Tom Collins. Tom did an excellent job and sang a nice set of Christmas songs. Residents danced and sang along all afternoon. The smile on their faces said everything. If that wasn’t enough then later the same evening we had a visit from a professional choir. This really did kick the spirit of Christmas of nicely.
