Activities at The Dales Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Kay Thompson

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Kay and I am the activities coordinator here at the Dales.  I joined the team in June 2021 and I love spending time with the residents each day, delivering meaningful activities that keep our residents active and social stimulated, more importantly we have fun!  Our life enrichment programme is varied and we have lots to do!

Before I joined the home I was a lecturer teaching young individuals with high needs, it is very different being an activities coordinator but it does help with understand how to ensure everyone is happy each and every day in everything that we do.

I look forward to meeting you when you visit our home.

Sensory Garden

Sensory Garden

The sun has been shining lately, so we are making the most of the first days of spring in our sensory garden. A bit of sun and some lovely colours will put a smile on anyone's face.

Open Day

Open Day

On 25th January we hosted our special Winter Wonderland-themed open day. As you can see, we also had a teddy bear's picnic! The day was a huge success, with Burns Night celebrations, and live music from the accordion players in the afternoon.

Pioneer Projects

Pioneer Projects

Pioneer Projects joined us for an afternoon of story telling and canvas painting. Residents were invited to use wax on their canvases to create batik style paintings. The paintings created will be connected together to create banners for an exhibition that Pioneer Projects are holding in 2017.

Remember, Remember

Remember, Remember

Residents and family enjoyed our firework display on the 5th November, along with hot chocolate and pie and peas. During the day, we had a ‘Best Guy’ competition. Which one do you think is the best?

Halloween

Halloween

We had a spooktacular time on Halloween, with lots of goodies to sell and pumpkins to carve. The home was spookily decorated with Lianne, our singing witch, coming to entertain us.

Elvis has Enterted the Building

Elvis has Enterted the Building

Residents and family members were entertained by Elvis on one rainy afternoon. The weather hadn't dampened our spirits as we danced to Jailhouse Rock and put on our blue suede shoes. The ladies swooned as Elvis gyrated his hips and we all sang along to our favourite songs.
