Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Claremont Parkway Care Home

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People
For 'World Hearing Day' our residents gathered in the lounge to be given a very informative talk on the important role of hearing dogs, explaining how these specially trained animals provide vital support to people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
The residents listened intently as John from Hearing Dogs for Deaf People described how the dogs alert their owners to important sounds like doorbells, alarms and even a baby crying, helping to restore confidence and independence. The talk was enriched with heart-warming stories of hearing dogs transforming lives, and residents were given the chance to ask questions and are looking forward to John visiting again and bringing along one of their friendly demonstration dogs.
A big THANK YOU to John and all the volunteers who help people keep there independence by supporting the organisation. Please keep a look out for up and coming events within the home to help support them.

Weekly Activities Strengthen Friendships
The week of 24th February saw a very busy week at Claremont Parkway.
Monday saw a cooking class, where we made a scrummy Mediterranean salad to eat alongside our afternoon tea. On Tuesday we enjoyed a 'knit and natter' where residents are making small squares to complete a blanket.
Wednesday saw us all getting creative with a bit of basket weaving, which required combined skills of dexterity and concentration. On Thursday morning we explored the creative talents of Spanish artist; Joan Miro which certainly produced some stunning pictures.
To finish the working week we welcomed back Tom from G-fitness who put us through our paces with some physical exercises. Overall it was a very enjoyable and busy week, with lots of laughs and smiles.

An afternoon of magic and mayhem!
Today our residents were treated to an afternoon of laughter, music, and amusement as master entertainer David transformed an dull day into an unforgettable spectacular of ventriloquism and magic.
The spellbinding performance saw David's cast of characters spring to life, including a charismatic life-sized furry dog that had residents and guests alike in stitches. The audience was treated to a musical journey through time as his puppet companions sang out classics from ABBA, Elvis, and Roy Orbison!
The magic reached new heights when young visitors joined in the fun, with Melvyn's grandchildren stepping up to assist in a mesmerising trick that left everyone guessing. David's razor-sharp wit and seamless blend of comedy, music, and sleight-of-hand kept the audience captivated from start to finish.
Thank you David, it was pure theatre – you didn't just perform ventriloquism, you created magic right before our eyes!

Employee of the Month - January 2025
Please join us in congratulating Laundry Assistant; Laura Allot on receiving 'Employee of the Month for January 2025'.
Laura has been recognised by our residents family and friends for her continued hard work, and tireless commitment in keeping our residents looking, and feeling their very best; from fresh bedlinen to cosy cardigans!
Home Manager; Katie had the pleasure of presenting Laura with her certificate and gifts saying; "Laura is a key member of the housekeeping team here at Claremont Parkway, she’s conscientious and always delivers a premium service.
We all hope she enjoys spending the £25 voucher on something special for herself. Keep up the good work and dedication to your Claremont family."

New Technology and Traditional Board Games
Claremont Parkway was filled with laughter and cheerful chatter this afternoon as some of our residents gathered for an afternoon of friendly competition with a game of Monopoly, the game provided not just entertainment but also a sense of companionship. Playing games like Monopoly is a great way to support mental, emotional, and social well-being.
After the game some residents wished to look at a new game that activity coordinator Karen had brought in called Ouisi (pronounced we see). It consists of photo images on cards and there are a variety of games and uses for the cards: today we just chose to share one card at a time around the group with them telling us what they could see.
Each resident appeared to see something different which led to a variety of discussions and views as to what it was! However, on the reverse of each card is a QR code which can be scanned and this brings up information and facts on what the image really depicts.
The residents that took part thoroughly enjoyed this and even a resident who sat nearby said she enjoyed listening to people’s ideas even though she did not wish to join in and look at photos.

Join our New 'Crochet, Knit & Natter' group!
This week, Receptionist and Activities Assistant; Tricia launched our new 'Crochet, Knit & Natter' group!
