Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home

Residents enjoyed being out in the garden yesterday afternoon, as the weather was a little cooler than of late, and we had a little Javelin competition between the residents. All sporting events are always good to promote physical well being and being outside was a bonus too.

With the sun shining and temperatures soaring , Manager Jo surprised the team with ice cream treats to help everyone beat the heat.  It was a gesture that brought big smiles, cool relief, and a little extra energy to carry on providing the best care for our residents.

Our lovely residents also indulged in some cool ice cream treats which always goes down well.

On Wednesday evening residents at Claremont enjoyed a cheese and wine evening, it provided a lovely opportunity for residents to come together and enjoy a relaxed, sociable atmosphere. Such events encourage social interaction, helping to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness while fostering a sense of community.

Sharing a variety of cheeses and wines can stimulate the senses, evoke pleasant memories, and spark conversations about past experiences, travels, and favourite foods.

This type of gathering also offers mental and emotional stimulation, supporting residents' overall wellbeing. Additionally, it creates a warm and enjoyable environment where staff, residents and even family members can bond, strengthening relationships and enhancing the quality of life within the setting.
 

World Chocolate Day at Claremont Parkway was a truly sweet celebration!

Residents enjoyed a delicious chocolate tasting session, sampling a variety of flavours from rich dark to creamy milk and smooth white chocolate not to mention the selection in between such as Turkish Delight, Mint, Biscoff, Salted Caramel and many more.

The fun continued with a chocolate-themed quiz and fascinating facts about everyone's favourite treat, sparking laughter and memories of childhood chocolate bars and special moments, Plus we had a look back at chocolate adverts on Youtube.

In the afternoon we paired up with Wimbledon on the TV with a glass of Pimm's and chocolate dipped strawberries - the perfect summery indulgence.

To top it all off, residents were treated to an after-tea delight: A flowing chocolate fountain with fresh fruit and fluffy marshmallows for dipping. It was a day full of smiles, conversations, and of course Chocolate.

This evening some of our residents gathered around the roulette wheel with playful excitement, laughter echoing through the room as the little silver ball danced and spun.

For many, the game stirred fond memories of youth - days spent in bustling seaside arcades, pockets jingling with pennies, and the thrill of slot machines and old fairground games.

As the wheel turned so did the stories of later years when some had been on cruise holidays and watched the casinos come alive in the evenings.

The roulette wasn't just a game - it was a gateway to nostalgia, bringing back the magic of penny arcades and the timeless delight of a little friendly gamble.

Tuesday afternoon Claremont Parkway Care Home - Barchester Healthcare was filled with warmth as our residents welcomed a special visit from a group of therapy animals.

The presence of the gentle, well-trained pets brought comfort, joy, and a sense of companionship to everyone they met.
For many residents, interacting with animals evoked fond memories and offered a soothing break from routine.

Animal therapy is known to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and improve emotional well-being - benefits that were clearly felt throughout the afternoon.

The visit not only lifted spirits but also sparked conversation, laughter, and a shared sense of connection among residents, staff and visitors alike.

It was a heart warming reminder of the simple but powerful bond between humans and animals.

Friday saw our residents enjoying a delightful afternoon of gentle fitness, designed to promote movement, flexibility, and well-being in a relaxed and supportive setting.

The light exercises were tailored to suite all abilities, encouraging everyone to join in at their own pace.

After working up a light appetite, residents were treated to a traditional cream tea, complete with freshly baked scones, jam and cream, served alongside a comforting cup of tea - Well it was National Cream Tea Day!

The session was filled with smiles, conversation, and a wonderful sense of community - a perfect balance of wellness and indulgence.

Today we had a very special Teddy Bears Picnic with our residents and Parent and Baby group. 

We had a joyful intergenerational get together filled with cuddly bears, picnic treats, and games as well as sharing stories across generations.

There was lots of laughter, connection, and the simple joy of spending time together, It's a wonderful opportunity to build friendships, bridge generation, and create lasting memories-for the young, the young at heart, and everyone in between.
