Activities at Chacombe Park Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Heather Gooch
My name is Heather and I am the Head of Activities here at Chacombe Park. My role is to ensure that all residents are supported in enjoying hobbies and events that enrich their life.
I have a Bachelors degree in Theatre Performance, as well as a PGCE in Secondary Drama. I have previously worked for another Barchester home back in 2012 before working as a secondary school teacher, teaching Drama at both GCSE and A Level. I have a passion for person centred care, which has come from my love of pastoral work during my time as a teacher. I want each resident to feel appreciated and supported to enjoy the skills/hobbies that they have treasured before their time at Chacombe.
In my spare time I enjoy singing, cross stitch and learning new skills. I endeavour to bring these hobbies and passions into my role here at Chacombe, as well as learn some new skills from the vast range of knowledge that our residents can bring!

Life at Chacombe Park Care Home
Sophie's seated dance
This seated dance workshop with Sophie was a fantastic experience for our residents! Dancing to the music of Cinderella has been a delightful and engaging activity. It's wonderful to hear that everyone enjoyed the session. These moments contribute to a vibrant and joyful moment!
Residents Delight in British car Museum Adventure
The residents had a fantastic time on the mini bus outing to the British car museum in Gaydon. They were thrilled to see the vintage and various cars, finding each one beautiful and charming. The excitement was palpable as they explored. Afterward, they enjoyed a delicious lunch, making it a truly enjoyable day for everyone.
Residents find unity and joy in ‘Songs of Praise’
The residents gathered for a special musical moment, listening to the soothing tunes of 'Songs of Praise'. The melodies lifted their spirits and brought everyone closer together in a moment of unity and reflection. Resident even showcased their piano skills, playing beautifully and adding to the joyful atmosphere. It was a wonderful time enjoyed by all, creating cherished memories
Winchester House Dementia Choir
At Winchester House, residents came together for something truly special. They joined a dementia choir, creating a beautiful moment of connection and happiness. The experience left their hearts full of joy and gave them wonderful memories to cherish. It was a day that truly brightened their spirits.
Blissful day at Farnborough garden centre
The residents had a wonderful time at Farnborough Garden Centre. They explored the gardens, enjoying every moment. Even though it drizzled a bit, it didn't dull their spirits. They relished cups of warm drinks and tasty snacks, adding to the joy of the day. It was a delightful outing that truly brightened their day.
Nail Polish Delight
It was a special day for the residents at Chacombe Park. Their faces lit up with joy as their nails were carefully polished. The simple act brought them immense happiness, making their day a little brighter. Each resident left with a big smile, grateful for the thoughtful gesture that brought a touch of beauty and cheer to their lives.
