Activities at Caldy Manor Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. We encourage those we support to continue with any hobbies whilst they stay at home. We also hold group activities, such as exercise to music, sing-alongs, craft sessions and visits to local places of interest. There are also evening events, including cheese & wine evenings and race nights. We keep families up-to-date through our newsletter and notices that can be found across the home. Family and friends are always welcome to join in!

Stephanie Boyd
Hi my name is Steph and I am Lead Activities here at Caldy Manor. As an Activities Coordinator I focus on encouraging our residents to take part in outdoor trips on the mini bus, delivering varied exercise classes and assisting residents with their chosen activities as part of our homes life enrichment plan. It is important that we continue to ensure our residents are connected to their local community.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Caldy Manor Care Home

Chair Yoga
We had the pleasure of meeting Kate for our first chair yoga session. We do exercises quite regularly but residents had requested for a professional to get a different take on their exercise regime. Kate really made it extra special and brought different exercises to suite our resident’s needs. We listened to some relaxing classical music that was chosen by our residents that we moved along to. One of our residents said “ since we have been doing these exercises I have really noticed a difference in the level of movement I can do. My arm can reach a lot higher now and I really enjoy our exercise classes”.

Fish and chips
We had a lovely afternoon down at New Brighton. We ordered some fish and chips from the chip shop and stopped off in our minibus somewhere with a wonderful view of the River Mersey. We set our picnic table in the van and served out the fish and chips along with some bread and butter. We finished our lunch off with some homemade cake made by our fabulous chef and tea and coffee. It is always such a fabulous day out in the minibus as it brings back some wonderful memories. One resident said “ I used to love to come down here with my boys. They used to run round on the grass and we used to finish the day off with an ice cream”.

Easter Celebrations
What a fabuous Easter weekend we had! We started the celebrations with our Easter event which brought our families, friends and the local community together. We was visited by some wonderfull animals and we throughly enjoyed holding them. The children who came all enjoyed egg and spoon race and an egg hunt. Another afternoon was filled with music and dancing when Sandra Currie came and sang for us. Its so nice to bring our family and friends together and enjoy the celebrations.

Keeping fit together!
We have been kindly donated a wonderful exercise machine by one of staff. Our residents love exercising and are thrilled to have this available to them whenever they want it. We all had a go during our weekly exercise class and it was a massive hit.
Our residents are already in conversation when they will use it next. Our exercise class is one of our most popular classes here at Caldy Manor.

Trip to West Kirby
Our residents had a lovely afternoon trip to West Kirby promenade. We chatted about the times they walked to Hilbre Island every Sunday with the children and that they are cherished memories. We also have a resident who has moved here so doesn’t know the local area, so it was nice for her to see our beautiful surroundings. Our weekly mini bus trips are very popular and we have some great trips coming very soon.

Rummage Boxes
We have introduced new rummage boxes in our memory lane and they have worked wonders. They have promoted engagement and conversation. Our feedback from our staff on the rummage boxes are “I think there great. Our residents faces looks so animated ,happy and laughing, it’s so nice to see. They really have helped our memory lane residents”. We will keep updating the boxes to keep them interesting.
