Activities at Caldy Manor Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. We encourage those we support to continue with any hobbies whilst they stay at home. We also hold group activities, such as exercise to music, sing-alongs, craft sessions and visits to local places of interest. There are also evening events, including cheese & wine evenings and race nights. We keep families up-to-date through our newsletter and notices that can be found across the home. Family and friends are always welcome to join in!

Stephanie Boyd
Hi my name is Steph and I am Lead Activities here at Caldy Manor. As an Activities Coordinator I focus on encouraging our residents to take part in outdoor trips on the mini bus, delivering varied exercise classes and assisting residents with their chosen activities as part of our homes life enrichment plan. It is important that we continue to ensure our residents are connected to their local community.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Caldy Manor Care Home

Llandudno trip
We had a wonderful day exploring the beautiful countryside in North Wales. We set off around 11AM and arrived at 12.30. We ventured up the Great Orme in our minibus and stopped off at the top for our lunch. It was very windy so we ate our lunch in the bus. When the wind settled we went into the visitor centre which was lovely to learn about the history of the area. After that we travelled through Rhos on Sea, Towyn and Rhyl and getting back to Caldy Manor around 5 PM. It brought back some wonderful memories for our residents of the time they bought their children on their holidays in north Wales.

Making fruit kebabs
The residents got into the summer mood by making fruit kebabs. The residents enjoyed showing off their creative skills by making the a variety of fruit kebabs and used this activity to reduce social isolation within the home by taking the treats into residents rooms to brighten their day.

Chester zoo
We went on a lovely trip to Chester Zoo. We began the day with a picnic at Sandy Lane in Chester where we spent time watching the boats pass as we ate our lunch. We then made our way to the zoo. The residents enjoyed seeing all the animals, the penguins and the lions were a big hit.

Narrowboat trip from Chirk to Trevor
We went out for the day with Wirral community narrowboat trust on a narrow boat with 8 residents and 4 members of staff. This experience was beneficial to the residents as they spent a day in the local community interacting with nature and strengthening bonds between both the residents and staff. We spent 6 hours exploring the canals going through two tunnels and two aqueducts and enjoyed lunch on the boat.

Chester Zoo
We have been to Chester zoo for a numerous of times over the last few weeks and it’s been such a wonderful experience. Getting out into the community is such an important part to our wellbeing. Conversations of memories flowed and it was wonderful to watch new memories being made. Residents still speak to each other about their experience at the zoo and compare it to others.

Carers week
Residents decided for carers week they wanted to make something that showed their appreciation and that it can be kept for staff to always look back on. We wrote thank you notes for the staff and printed out pictures of staff enjoying themselves with eh residents. It was lovely to hear of all the residents memories they had of the staff and being able to thank them.
