Activities at Balclutha Court Care Home

At Balclutha Court our resident’s happiness is extremely important to us. We all know that a large part of this is keeping active and continuing to enjoy your interests and hobbies. At Balclutha Court, we have regular activities including arts and crafts, music, entertainment, trips to local attractions such as canal trips, safari parks and many more. Our activities team are always busy organising events, entertainment and excursions with the broadest possible appeal and many of our residents see living at Balclutha Court as an opportunity to develop a new skill or interest. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Lovely Day Out

Lovely Day Out

Our ladies at Balclutha Court enjoyed a lovely pub lunch at the Tail o’ the Bank then a stroll along the promenade enjoying the views of the Clyde.

Residents and Colleagues Surprise General Manager

Residents and Colleagues Surprise General Manager

Surprise celebrations filled Balclutha Court as Alison Dickson, General Manager celebrated her 50th birthday on Friday 27th October.

Friends, colleagues and residents held a surprise birthday party in the home's beautiful lounge where the birthday girl was toasted with a special birthday cake and it made a wonderful centrepiece to complement the buffet.

It was a fun-filled afternoon for everyone!

Go for Gold

Go for Gold

Residents joined other residents from local care homes to prove that age is not a barrier as they competed in a sports day for senior citizens. Residents from 11 care homes across Inverclyde gathered at Battery Park for the Go for Gold challenge. There were various games including the Slipper, Beat the Goalie & Egga and Spoon race. Everyone had a great time.

Chef's Kitchen

Chef's Kitchen

Residents at Balclutha recently whisked up an impressive batch of delicious pizzas with their favourite toppings for all to enjoy as a part of their regular Chef's Kitchen activity. Many of the residents enjoy baking and find it a very rewarding and relaxing activity.

Baking is a highly beneficial activity for all residents as it involves a variety of practical skills such as preparation, mixing & measuring, weighing ingredients, listening to instructions and concentration.  Everyone tucked into the finished results.

Independence Day , Independence Day

Independence Day

Residents at Balclutha celebrated Independence Day in a true American style by hosting a USA themed party with dancing and entertainment. There are a few members of staff with American origins at the home and a lot of people that love American movies and singers. Films from the golden age of Hollywood were lined up as well as playlists including Buddy Holly, Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra.

The weather was perfect and everyone had a great time! They celebrated all things American whilst everyone enjoyed burgers off the BBQ & ice cream floats. There was even a VIP visitor - the Statue of Liberty which posed for photographs!
