Activities at Ashcombe House Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

I’m a fun, loud and outgoing individual who loves organising fun activities for residents at Ashcombe House (and staff, if possible). I’m very creative and keep the residents very active, both mentally and physically In my spare time, I love doing a lot of fundraising, which usually ends up with me sliding in mud.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Ashcombe House Care Home
Kings Coronation
A full programme of events was hosted over the Kings coronation weekend, residents enjoyed a buffet watching the ceremony, toasted with a glass of fizz. The pearly king and queen came and sang some good old cockney songs that we all joined in with, a fantastic weekend and one to long be remembered.
Let's get creative
A colourful kingfisher was the inspiration behind our craft project, different techniques using pastels, acrylics and pencils made for a fantastic work of art.
Catch and Learn
With a ball loaded with questions residents not only exercised their bodies they were also exercising the mind. Through throwing and catching each person had a question to answer it helped us all to get to know more about each other and even threw in some surprise stories along the way.
St Patricks day
The Guinness was flowing and the house full of Irish songs and music. Tony Allgood entertained in the lounge with lots of energy and serenaded the ladies……and the men!! A trolley of Guinness visited all rooms so everyone could join in the celebrations.
101st Celebrations
Resident Lilian celebrated her 101st Birthday with us, the day was tailor made for Lilian with all her favourite things to do. Family attended a buffet lunch followed by Birthday Bingo in the lounge. Lilian shared her secret for a long happy life and that was “to just get on with it!” A wonderful day for a wonderful lady.
Cuddly Capers
Residents loved having the Guinea Pigs Visit, brushing and feeding them. We learnt all about their habitat and lifestyle along with what makes them happy. Feeding time was a frenzy they are definitely piggy by name and by nature!! The Guinea pigs also made room visits to ensure everyone got to meet them. It Was a wonderful afternoon with lots of cuddles and we can’t wait to have them back.
