Activities at Ashcombe House Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Michelle Martin
I’m a fun, loud and outgoing individual who loves organising fun activities for residents at Ashcombe House (and staff, if possible). I’m very creative and keep the residents very active, both mentally and physically In my spare time, I love doing a lot of fundraising, which usually ends up with me sliding in mud.

Life at Ashcombe House Care Home
Centenary Celebrations
Our wonderful resident Lilian Celebrated her 100th birthday with a lovely meal out with her family in the afternoon, came back to party decorations and a fabulous birthday cake to celebrate with her friends at Ashcombe.
St Patrick's Day
The home was decorated and everyone was encouraged to wear green to celebrate St Patrick's Day. Learning about Ireland in the morning and the afternoon we were entertained by Carl Cassidy from Reminisce entertainment who really got the party started with traditional Irish songs and some well-known favourites. Residents were up singing and dancing before enjoying a Guinness to finish the afternoon.
Always time for cake
We always love a reason to have cake at Ashcombe, staff and residents birthdays are always celebrated with cards, banners and of course cake!! The homes Chef always ensures everyone has a bespoke cake for their special day.
Police Visit
Everyone was a little on edge when two local police officers visited, who are they here for? But they weren’t here for anyone, they came to say hello and talk about the community, and stayed and shared a cup of tea with the residents. It was a lovely afternoon.
Ashcombe Awards
We held our own awards evening to say thanks to those that go above and beyond for our residents. Staff had an evening of nibbles and fizz before being awarded gifts and certificates. Residents had voted on the categories including, Carer of the Year, Senior Carer of the Year and more.
This is now going to become an annual occasion for the home as everyone appreciated the gesture.
Australia Day
Residents and staff discovered all things antipodean in celebration for Australia's National Day. Residents took part in Australian-themed activities throughout the day including their own bush tucker trials, residents were informed before the trial that there was nothing that would bit or sting them before putting their hands in a sealed box to hunt out stars.
Each star won a meal for the home and we are happy to say everyone was fed!
