Activities at Archview Lodge Care Home

What a lovely afternoon listening to our volunteer guy Luke from Lasswade high School playing the keyboard. He Played jingle bells and loads more all residents that came along joined in and sang along to the music. Our residents really enjoyed having a go on the keyboard. A couple of our residents said they used to play the piano and enjoyed having a go and could play a tune.

We took a trip up to our local museum in Dalkeith. One of our residents Ella said to us my name’s on the wall we were like where about yes it was the a red plaque. Both our residents enjoyed having a look around the museum Ella said she could remember the brush factory and could tell us a lot about Dalkeith what it was like years ago when she was growing up. Ella & Margaret really enjoyed listening to the guy tell them about the history of Dalkeith and the story about the railway bell. That someone went to Glasgow to pick it up to bring back here to Dalkeith museum and when they drove past Morrison’ s in Dalkeith the bell chimed as that used to be the old railway line.

Today at Archview we had the joy of hosting the marriage of Mr & Mrs Norrie. It has been a wonderful day for us and we are delighted for the happy couple. Jean has been living with us for nearly two years and it’s so lovely to share this chapter of her life with her love John.

We were delighted to host relatives and friends to our Archview Drama Group ‘s performance.

We would like to say a big thank you to our activity organiser Mary Macfarlane for writing, directing and supporting the residents to put on this show. Mary works really hard behind the scenes making these shows such a success and she and our residents have had great fun each week rehearsing on a Friday morning. Our drama club meet every Friday and they have named themselves Archview’s Chuckle Drama Group. The show was very well received and was about the wild west.

We celebrated our first ever hen party here in Archview. Jean really wasn’t up for a hen party but we had to. Jean was very surprised when she came into the dining room. Some of her resident friends, managers, our chef Ahmet and of course her bridesmaid Stephanie who works here in Archview all celebrated with her.

All residents David, Julia, Alex, Beryl and our staff member Yvonne. All aboard had a great day on the barge. It was very relaxing and everyone had an enjoyable time. Thank you to the staff at the Seagull Trust. All the staff are very knowledgeable about the canal. All staff were very friendly and very helpful.
