Activities at Adlington Manor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Lynne Bowler

Activities Coordinator

I joined the activities team at Adlington Manor in May 2017. Previously, I have worked as a tree surgeon and have had heavy involvement with the Guides and Brownies. I love participating in activities with residents, whether that's by driving the minibus on trips outside the home, or by engaging in themed days.

I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in our activities here.

Pet therapy with Buddy

Residents have a paw-some time each week when Buddy pays a visits. Buddy loves to be in control sitting in the office to supervise our lovely nurses and paying a visit to each of our residents as he tours the home to share his love and bask in all of the attention!

Fiona Gough, General Manager says “Our residents have been very receptive to Buddy’s presence at in the home and it has proven to be an amazing way to bring joy and happiness into the lives of our residents, we look forward to his visits”

Elves everywhere!

Elves everywhere at Adlington Manor!  We swapped our uniforms for costumes on National Elf Day in an effort to raise funds to help people living with dementia.

Launched by the Alzheimer’s Society and delivered directly from the North Pole, Elf Day was created to sprinkle some festive cheer on fundraising towards finding a cure for dementia.

We were able to enjoy elf-themed games, quizzes and delicious sweet and savoury treats, prepared by our talented hospitality team and Residents laughter could be heard across the home when an Elf appeared!

Cocktails and Mocktails

An afternoon of ‘cocktails and mocktails’ as we taste tested a selection of mouth-watering treats deciding which we’d prefer for our Christmas day celebrations.

From chocolate brownie rum cocktail, mimosa, a delicious candy cane martini to the traditional snowball!  Everyone was a hit making the decision even harder….

Countdown to Christmas has started!

Residents and colleagues at Adlington Manor kick started their Christmas celebrations with staff dressed in their finest Christmas jumpers and our lovely residents opening the doors on our advent calendars.

Santa's little helper!

We shall be celebrating National Elf Day on Wednesday 6 December as we look at raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society and our lovely Resident, Pat wished to help – she is living with dementia.

Pat is our face of National Elf day and we would love you to sponsor her with visiting the Alzheimer page and donating or if you are visiting the home by giving a small amount.
