Activities at Wimbledon Beaumont Care Community

Our team of activities staff and volunteers are constantly striving to improve the lives of our residents. This includes the quality of our regular entertainers, the new PAT dog and cat visits, the new singing entertainment in residents bedrooms and the personalised visits by volunteers. We also encourage relatives and friends to join in with activities and trips out whenever they can.

As the festive season begins, the team at Wimbledon Beaumont would like to encourage you to join them to take part in our varied activities and regular trips out.

Making Baking

Earlier this week, some of our residents chose to attend our popular baking class and created this delicious sponge cake.

Baking class was a great opportunity to get together and discus popular recipes of yester-year.

One of our residents recalled how her family each contributed to the family Christmas cake by joining together and pooling their rations. Another residents discussed how she made a 'saucepan' cake, something that we are going to attempt in our next baking session.

A good time was had by all.

Indian Independence Day

A Wish come True

Early this week our team support went far beyond the regular care and social activities.

After the last trip to the seaside, our resident Mr. John Bennett shared with us a few memories of him being a strong sea swimmer in the past and how much he missed swimming in the sea.

Our mini bus set off early Wednesday morning to the seaside at wonderful Worthing,  with some members of our team who are strong swimmers and of course own the necessary wetsuit for swimming in English seas.

It was a perfect day for John that of course was completed with fish and chips in a sea side restaurant.

Tending our Gardens for 24 year's

For those of you that don't know him, this is our 'Head Gardener' Nigel Drake.

Nigel has worked here at Wimbledon Beaumont Care Community for a staggering 24 years, starting work on our gardens on 20th September 1999.

Nigel says' I really enjoy my work. I love making the gardens safe and beautiful for our resident's. It is unusual in Wimbledon to find such large gardens, so tending and cultivating our gardens, through out the seasons is a pleasure.

Along with the flowers and shrubs our residents also enjoy the wild live the gardens encourages.
