National Book Lover's Day drawing competition with signed books from David Walliams
NATIONAL BOOK LOVER’S DAY WAS CELEBRATED AT WIMBLEDON BEAUMONT!
Wimbledon Beaumont held a drawing competition for local children to celebrate national book lover’s day. We invited local children to send in their drawings and art work of their very own favourite book character.
The competition was inspired by the amazing books of famous child author David Walliams who kindly donated signed books as the prize for a lucky entrant!
Everyone who entered the competition provided fabulous art work, 1st prize was from the talented Maya aged 9 years who received her very own signed David Walliams book, 2nd prize Khylan aged 10 years and 3rd prize Nikita aged 13 years who both received prizes too.
Resident Dr Mark Collins kindly read to the children and residents a David Walliams book ‘Space boy’ and our very own chef supplied refreshments of homemade cakes, teas and coffees.
General Manager Khushkaran Kaur said: “Books and enjoying art is very popular with everyone who lives at Wimbledon Beaumont Care Home and creative activities are always a favourite. This competition was a very special event for us and we are honoured to be able to receive the signed book from a wonderful famous author David Walliams who kindly supported us celebrating National Book Lover’s day.”
Wimbledon Beaumont care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering personalised care across its care homes and hospitals. Community Festive Fun
What an amazing time we had at Kings College Boys School in Wimbledon.
We were invited along for a festive afternoon tea, our residents loved it.
The boys sung carols and we enjoyed afternoon tea with a drop of Christmas cheer.
Our thanks go out to the boys and staff at Kings College - we shall return the compliment.

Mini bus trips out - Deen City farm this week
Our mini bus trip this week took residents and staff to Deen City Farm, we saw all types of animals but the farm is particularly famous for petting cattle and rare animal breeds.
We had a fabulous time.
Obviously the afternoon was topped off with tea and cake in the well stocked cafe at the farm.

Let's start with the Art
Our art groups and classes are well attended here at Wimbledon Beaumont.
There so so much talent at these classes, nut there is also the people that just want to use the classes as a therapy session.
Art therapy can help older adults to remain creatively flexible and mentally agile as they age.
We love it.

Tesco treats
With the festive season fast approaching, some of our residents have started to think about gifts and cards for their loved ones.
We arranged a mini-bus trip out to start some Christmas shopping for our residents
Tesco was the chosen shop for this resident and a very good choice it turned out to be as well.

Songs on Wheels
What a great time we had here at Wimbledon Beaumont when the sensational 'Songs on Wheels' Community Choir came to visit earlier this month.
Those old songs that we all know and love were great to hear again and sing along too.
And, maybe its because we are Londoner's, we loved them so much.
Thank you Libby, for bringing the choir, we hope to sing with you again shortly.
