Activities at Wilton Place Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Our residents from both our Residential and Memory Lane communities enjoying activities together.

Baking in our dedicated Activities Room with Fiona our Activities Coordinator, delicious sausage rolls were made and devoured later with tea and coffee with friends in the Bistro.

Then an uplifting Sing-A-Long, with all the old favourites followed by Music and Movement with Nicky, our Dementia Champion.

We are dedicated to creating interesting and engaging activities for our residents. Nothing is more rewarding for us than seeing the smiles on their faces.

Minibus Trip to Wilton Garden Centre

Baking for Burns Night

Yesterday residents from our Residential and Memory Lane communities joined in with our Burn's Night preparations by making shortbread.

Interestingly, shortbread begins with the medieval “biscuit bread”. Any leftover dough from bread making was dried out in a low oven until it hardened into a type of rusk: the word “biscuit” means “twice cooked”. Gradually the yeast in the bread was replaced by butter, and biscuit bread developed into shortbread.

A tasting session afterwards was of course necessary!

Alpaca Adventures

On Thursday we welcomed 'Liquorice' and 'Spartan Warrior' to our home.

Animal therapy has the ability to enhance someone’s quality of life and can have ongoing physical benefits and improve any ongoing health ailments. It’s said that the excitement of pet therapy can boost residents’ activity levels, and it certainly did!

Both boys were adorable and so patient. Wendy wowed us with her Alpaca facts explaining all about the boys eating habits, temperament and characters.

Who knew Alpacas can climb the stairs?!

The residents in both communities were treated to personal room visits and time to pet and chat to the animals.
