Activities at Wilton Place Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Wilton Place Care Home

Tea with a Pony

The ‘Tea with a Pony’ experience was booked for some of our animal loving residents a ta local stables.
The ladies headed off on the minibus with Antoinette, the home’s General Manager and Carly Mitton, Head of Housekeeping.

The ladies were treated to a tour of the stables, they met the volunteers and were introduced to a number of ponies. They soaked up the atmosphere and enjoyed petting and stroking the animals and also met the stable cat.

A fun morning with Sheryl from Harnham Physio!

The ladies and gents enjoyed a morning of armchair exercise as it improves their strength, flexibility and fitness and it is enjoyable to do as a group.

Pet Therapy

Henry who is a 'Clumber' breed has just passed his certificates to be a pat dog for 'Pets Therapy' and he came to Wilton Place for the first time today to meet the residents and staff, accompanied by his owner Andrew who lives locally.

Henry was so well behaved, gentle and friendly that John and Iris our residents, thought he was just adorable and thoroughly enjoyed his visit today.

Henry and Andrew plan to visit us each week, Henry for treats and a bowl of water and Andrew for coffee and cake!

Did you know Barchester subscribe to a digital resource? This platform provides tailored activity, exercise and TV content - all in one easy to use wellbeing platform. It provides a wide range of resources to support residents, our care teams and family members to improve Life Enrichment and overall quality of life.

Staff and residents enjoyed a singer on screen entertaining us with a range of pop classics from the 50s and 60s this afternoon.

Toe Tapping Along

What a great afternoon we had being entertained by Dave. There’s solid scientific evidence to prove that singing is good for your body and your mind and that was certainly the case on Friday. We had such a fun time, dancing and singing along to all the old classics.

Word Games in the Bistro

Laughter could be heard throughout the home this morning as Residents and Staff came together for word games in the Bistro.

This is a favourite of our residents, we like to keep our minds active whilst chatting and enjoying good company, good coffee and good cake!

Animals beginning with U and Y seemed to be particularly tricky so we settled on Unicorn and Yeti, hence the giggles!
