Activities at Westergate House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Lee Austin
My name is Lee and I am the Head of Lifestyle here at Westergate House.
I support our residents daily to do the things they enjoy and it is extremely important to me that we are offering a premium and person centred service to each resident. I support our residents on a daily basis by providing meaningful and quality activities either in groups or on a 1:1 basis, to help encourage and build confidence while creating an enjoyable environment for everyone. Westergate House is the home of our residents, we as staff are working in it, so it is extremely important to me that we are respectful of that, while offering a premium and person centred service to each and every resident.
I am a trained actor and professional vocalist and not shy in making a fool of myself. If I do that every day to put a smile on our residents faces then I’m happy I have played my part, along with the rest of the amazing team, to brightening their day. If you hear someone singing along the corridor or see them dancing in the lounges, it will probably be me.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Westergate House Care Home

Food, Food, Glorious Food!
Here at Westergate we pride ourselves on our ‘dining experience’; and want to give a big shout out to our Head Chef Chris and his amazing team in the kitchen.
Not only do they produce excellent tasty three course meals throughout the day, including a bitesize menu and stunning nutritious beverage trolleys for our residents, we also cater for a host of special events each month. This month included a number of special lunches for resident’s and their families, waited on in our bistro and a ‘life celebration’, for 30 guests; you can see from the pictures that the culinary delights were simply stunning.
All that hard work going on behind the scenes just shows the care and quality of service that comes from every department and team member here at Westergate House.

Merry Christmas!
Wishing all of amazing residents, family, friends and fantastic staff team here at Westergate House a very Merry Christmas. Santa made a special trip to visit us Christmas morning, delivering bespoke presents to all of our residents, his sleigh was certainly loaded. Our tables were set beautifully for our Christmas Day Festive Feast with the addition of handmade centre pieces created by our residents. Festive Fun and merriment was had by everyone and everybody enjoyed the Kings first Christmas speech.

Festive Entertainment Galore
Our fun packed daily Christmas Countdown calendar continues this week at Westergate House, with everyone getting in the Christmas spirit. The stars of the show were without a doubt the ‘Dizzy Ducklings Pre-School’, who joined us to sing their nativity songs; a definite ‘golden buzzer’ with our residents. Tish, pictured with the Dizzy Ducklings trained to be a teacher and previously taught reception class and was in her element. We didn’t stop there, ‘oh no we didn’t, we also had the Aldingbourne Primary School performing Christmas classics for us all to enjoy and the Bognor Regis Bell Ringers who treated us to an amazing festive musical treat for everyone to enjoy. Christmas is certainly full steam ahead.

Christmas Countdown at Westergate House
Our Christmas Countdown has started with a ‘festive bang’, here at Westergate House with daily festive fun and frolics. You can see from our picture, that one of the highlights of the week was a Carols by Candlelight Concert at our local secondary school, St Philip Howard Catholic School. Our residents took a minibus trip to attend and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Meanwhile back at the home we had gingerbread house building, a wonderful piano player entertaining everyone with festive tunes and plenty of laughter with our Christmas themed games. Residents and staff are looking forward to the week ahead with so much going on and our Panto Themed Fancy Dress Friday. Merry Christmas.

Chichester Cathedral Peace Doves
Our lives nowadays don’t seem to give us the time to stop, stare and reflect on the moment that we are in. Yesterday however, at Westergate House, we did just that.
Some of our residents took a mini bus trip to Chichester Cathedral to see the beautiful art installation called Peace Doves. It was a very humbling and moving time, not only seeing the paper doves with thoughts and prayers from members of the Chichester community on them, but knowing that Residents, Staff and Family of Westergate House contributed 100 of the 15,000 doves on display.
What made it even more amazing was that we were pretty much the only ones there. Yes it was chilly but a really wonderful trip, finishing off with Tea & Cake in the cathedral cafe to warm us up. A really lovely afternoon.

Parachute Games
What a lovely fun morning we had here at Westergate House. Our balloon tennis and parachute games were a big hit in our Memory Lane communities. It got very competitive at times, and that also included the staff too. Our amazing carers got fully involved and encouraged everyone to have a go and do their best. It made for a brilliant activity and morning. Well done everyone, we can feel a rematch coming on in December!
