Werrington Lodge Care Home in Peterborough

Werrington Lodge is a purpose built care home that provides 24-hour nursing care to older people, including those living with dementia. Alongside this, we also offer respite care and short breaks, which can now be pre-booked up to a year in advance. Ideally situated by the lakes on the north-east side of Peterborough and just 10 minutes from the city centre, Werrington Lodge has excellent transport links and plenty of local amenities nearby.

Dementia Care

Werrington Lodge has a dedicated Memory Lane Community that provides a safe, homely environment for people living with dementia, which has been designed following these guidelines ensuring the care we provide supports residents’ freedom of choice. We aim to maintain their life-skills, improving their self-esteem and helping them to maintain and develop their independence while they are living with us.

Staff undertake specialist dementia care training developed by our team of Dementia Care Specialists and academic partners, the Centre for Dementia Research at Leeds Beckett University. Together they ensure our training programmes are informed by the very latest thinking. We ensure that the people we support feel comfortable and safe in their surrounding environment, helping ensure they live life with dementia to the full.

Choosing a care home for a loved one or friend who may be experiencing dementia can be difficult and we have created a guide to showcase how we ‘Enrich the lives of people living with dementia’ in our care home.

We refurbished large areas of the home in 2018, making improvements to various lounges, dining rooms, bedrooms, as well as upgrading the reception area to include more seating for residents and visitors. Our first-class facilities complement the exceptional work of our staff, not only from our care team but also from our kitchen, hospitality and activities teams. Staff work hard to ensure each and every resident receives superior care that reflects their individual needs and desires.

We are always keen to see visitors, so please feel free to stop by or give us a call at any time.

Renju Susan Varghese

General Manager

Hello, my name is Renju and I am the Acting General Manager at Werrington lodge.

I qualified as a nurse in 2008 before moving to the U in 2012. I gained a wide range of skills and experience working in dementia nursing and palliative care for several years. I relocated to Peterborough in 2018 and worked as a junior sister in one of the specialist dementia nursing homes, before joining Barchester in 2020 and working as a senior nurse at Longueville Court. In 2021 I moved to Hampton Grove, having been promoted to Deputy Manager. In March 2023, I was promoted as the Acting General Manager at Werrington Lodge.

I am passionate about providing outstanding care and ensuring the well-being and happiness of our residents. My team and I strive to create a 'home from home' atmosphere at Werrington Lodge where each resident can pursue their hobbies and interests in a supported environment.

If there is anything I can do to assist you, please do not hesitate to get in touch and I will do my very best to help anyone who is starting to explore their future care needs. Please drop in for a cup of tea and a chat – my door is always open and I look forward to welcoming you to Werrington Lodge very soon!
