Activities at Vecta House Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Life at Vecta House Care Home

Trip to Christmas World
Residents kicked off the festive spirit early with a visit to their local garden centre Busy Bees.
Busy Bees is known for its spectacular Christmas display and we were all excited to enter the world of Christmas.
As we first stepped in we took advantage of the Christmas photo booth getting beautiful photos to remind us of our magical adventure.
We walked around the world of Christmas taking in all the lights and everything that makes this time of year so magical. We saw the biggest Christmas tree that started from the ground floor and reached up to the top floor and then proceeded to have our photo taken with Santa.
After we had spent time admiring the displays all around us we headed to the café for a hot beverage and slice of delicious cake. On our way home we reminisced about our individual Christmas traditions and what was our favourite part of the trip.

The Quirky Teapot
Today was our residents first time visiting “The Quirky Teapot” AND EVERYONE LOVED IT. We enjoyed cream tea with delicious homemade scones.

Celebrating Harvest Festival
Residents joined together with their local primary school to celebrate harvest festival.
Residents enjoyed listening to the children sing a variety of songs which brought back fond memories for a resident who used to work with a combined harvester.
The children joined residents to play the glockenspiel during the performance which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

Macmillan Cake Sale
During September we held a Macmillan cake sale to raise money for a great cause.
We had a delicious selection of scrumptious cakes all homemade by staff, tombola and a local group Wraxall Wollies held a stall of beautiful handmade items.
We managed to raise a whopping £104!

Quarr Abby
Residents enjoyed an outing to Quarr Abby where they enjoyed a delicious slice of cake and a cup of tea. Afterwards we enjoyed exploring the beautiful grounds spending time in the church praying with the monks then ended the trip with feeding the pigs. Residents enjoyed an outing to the café at the local Hospice, we basked in the glorious sunshine while enjoying tea and cake then walked around the beautiful gardens.

An Adventure to Monkey Haven
Residents went on a wild adventure to Monkey Haven to explore the park and admiring the variety of animals on show.
We loved the cheeky little Cotton top Tamarin monkeys that loved to have their photos taken . We ended the afternoon enjoying delicious cream tea at the parks café
